Bandon Athletes Volunteer at the Crab Fest
Boys and girls from the high school athletic programs volunteered on Saturday at the 2024 Crab Fest. The athletes helped with set up, clean up, and serving the community. This event supports the Bandon Booster Club that profoundly contributes to all of Bandon School District's Athletic Programs. The student athletes received many compliments on how polite they were, how hard they worked at the event, and how they took initiative to do the work that needed to be done without being prompted. Great job Tigers, we are proud of how you represent Bandon Schools on and off the courts and fields! Thank you Bandon Boosters and the community for all your continued support throughout the years!

Jazz Band Performance at the Clambake Festival
Last Friday, Mr. Weston took his Jazz Band and choir student, Lindi Robertson, to the Clambake Festival to perform. The students had a great day and impressed the audience with their musical talent!
Roseburg Choir Invitational
Mr. Weston and the high school choir went to Roseburg to perform at the Invitational Festival on Wednesday. The choir scored well above average and impressed all the judges! After they finished their performances, they were able to work with judge, Jason Heald to improve their skills even more! Great job, Tigers!
All Choir Concert
On Thursday, March 14th, Mr. Weston and Mrs. Sylvester had an All Choir Concert held at the Sprague Theater. The students have enjoyed having their choir concerts held at the Sprague Theater this year. Freshmen, Jessica Burg shared, "There is something comforting about the idea of being on an actual stage instead of just risers in a gymnasium. The lighting helps hide the audience, and the acoustics are much better."
Speech Update from Coach Pearson
The students worked so hard this last weekend during a two day long tournament that would qualify them to compete in our National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa this June. I could not be more proud of my entire team. Not only did they work hard but they lifted up, encouraged, and supported each other all weekend long as they powered through multiple difficult rounds.
6 of the 11 kids finialed in seven different events:
- Junior Maya T finialed in both Dramatic Interpretation (DI) and Programmed Oral Interpretation (POI). She can only go to Nationals in one event, so if she places in both she has pre-chosen POI.
- Junior Maddy G finialed in Dramatic Interpretation (DI).
- Junior Maddie P finialed in Original Oratory.
- Sophomore Tyler E finialed in Humorous Interpretation (HI).
- Freshman Jessica B finialed in Humorous Interpretation (HI).
- Freshman Sebastian N finialed in Original Oratory.
We had 3 of those kids make it to Nationals - meet your National Qualifiers:
- Junior and team Co-Captain Maya T will be competing in POI (she also qualified in DI!)
- Junior and team Co-Captain Maddie P will be competing in Oratory
- Freshman Jessica B will be competing in HI
In other exciting news, Bandon won the Nat Quals Sweepstakes in Individual Events, meaning we had the most IE points of all the teams who competed!

Valley Flora wanted to alert you to a few new programs that we - and other NW farms - are spearheading in in order to make fresh, local produce more accessible to low income families in our community. We’re trying to get the word out as widely as possible. If you have a spot to hang a poster (attached below), or room for a mention in your next newsletter, that would be wonderful! We are happy to provide you with a color-printed poster, just let us know! Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone in your networks who would benefit from knowing about these programs.
- Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB): a program that helps low-income Oregonians purchase more fruits and vegetables while supporting local, family farms. Folks with SNAP benefits can purchase one of our farm’s community supported agriculture (CSA) shares and DUFB will provide 1:1 matching funds (they pay half the cost of the CSA with SNAP and DUFB covers the other half). It's a win-win that strengthens our community by providing better access to fresh, healthy food while helping local farmers earn a living.
- CSA Sliding Scale: our farm is offering a voluntary sliding scale payment system in order to make our food more accessible to everyone in the community. It’s been a beautiful example of community - and humanity - at its best.
