This Week at Gateway
Gateway Regional Community Newsletter-March 18, 2024
Principal's Message
On Thursday, March 21, the Battleship USS New Jersey is scheduled to be moved from its dry dock in Camden to the Paulsboro Marina. In response to the anticipated crowds, and to alleviate potential traffic congestion in the area, Gateway Regional has been in communication with the Office of Emergency Management. Due to the unpredictable size of the event, Gateway will implement a noon dismissal schedule on Thursday, March 21. The hope is that this schedule change ensures smoother traffic flow, enabling our buses to navigate the area safely and efficiently. This change will not disrupt after-school activities or our scheduled musical premiere on Thursday night.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety and logistical considerations. Thank you for your flexibility in accommodating this temporary adjustment.

Dismissal
During dismissal, please do not make a right out of the student parking lot. This is a one-way. The flow of traffic should bring people leaving the parking lot behind the buses. Once the buses depart, car traffic will be free to clear out of the parking lot. Please refrain from driving around the back of the building as we have walkers exiting that area by the tennis courts. I appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience in this matter. This has become a safety concern because people are cutting off our school buses leaving Gateway. The buses depart at 2:42.
Prom Packets
Prom Packets can be picked up in Room 202 or Room 104. You MUST follow the directions in the packet exactly. Seating for the prom depends on you following the guidelines. Any questions, see Ms Boisvert or Mr. Covely.
Gators of the Month
Knock Out Cancer
This spring the High School Student Council decided to make Knock Out Cancer Kits for their service project. Thanks to the GREA we have canvas bags already and will be accepting donations for the other items on the attached list. The morning meeting that collects the most items will receive a pretzel treat courtesy of the Student Council. We can provide you with a box or bag if you need one. We will be collecting the items during the month of March.

Mrs. Raubertas' Intermediate Art Class
Students in Mrs. Raubertas' Intermediate Art class had the opportunity to visit The Fabric Workshop & Museum in Philadelphia on Friday. Students got a private tour of the current exhibition - Jessica Campbell: Heterodoxy, were able to meet and talk with artists in residence in their printmaking facilities and try their hand at screenprinting a cinch bag in the style of the portraits seen in Jessica Campbell's work under the direction of Katie Parry. This trip aligns with a social injustice printmaking project that students will cover in T4. Any Juniors or Seniors interested in learning more about screen printing as an art form (whether they attended the trip or not) are eligible for the FWM's paid High School Apprentice Training Program which has an application deadline of April 15th!
