Welcome Principal Yalanda Bell
Meet Yalanda Bell, the new proud principal of The Promise Career Institute. With over 20 years of experience in education, Yalanda’s educational journey began in Gwinnett County Public Schools as a marketing education teacher. She taught for 10 years, was the Georgia New Teacher of the Year in 2006, and her marketing program was certified twice by the American Marketing Association. After working for the district office in Gwinnett as the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Coordinator, Yalanda was promoted to Fulton County Schools in 2014 as the Executive Director of CTAE.
As Executive Director of CTAE, Yalanda led the CTAE programs across the district. During this time, she developed and implemented over 30 new and innovative programs including computer science and gaming, new healthcare science pathways, digital media and animation, aviation, the expansion and alignment of middle school course offerings, and the district's first elementary CTAE course. Between 2015 and 2019, the number of students who received industry credentials doubled under her leadership. In 2020, Yalanda transitioned into a new role in Fulton County as the Executive Director of Academic Programs, where she led the district elective programs including CTAE, Early Childhood Education, Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (JROTC), Health and Physical Education, Talented and Gifted (TAG), Advanced Placement (AP), AVID, International Baccalaureate (IB), Choice Programs, High Dosage Tutoring, Summer School, Fine Arts and Performing Arts, and the FCS Teaching Museums. She also led the curriculum development and implementation for the Fulton Schools College and Career Academy, 3DE by Junior Achievement, Innovation Academy, Global Impact Academy, and, most recently, The Promise Career Institute. Yalanda has also been involved in community organizations, including Aerotropolis Atlanta where she served on the K-12 educational committee.
Over the past two years, Yalanda has been instrumental in designing and planning The Promise Career Institute. Yalanda is committed to providing high academic outcomes for all students, leading to purposeful and intentional postsecondary and career success. She looks forward to continuing her leadership journey as the principal of this amazing school. She is excited to meet the students, parents, staff, teachers, and community members who have committed and invested in the promise of The Promise Career Institute.
