Oak Leaf Weekly Update
River Oak Charter School
Happy November ROCS Community!
November is one of my favorite months of the year. The fall colors are in full swing and it's the season of gratitude and reflection. We have so much to be grateful for here at River Oak.
We have a dedicated staff and I am so honored to have the opportunity to work with all of them each day. We have supportive families and a unified school community. Also, we see the efforts of our Ed Foundation, Parent Council, and the Charter Council as they focus on maintaining a functional and connected school community, even during the pandemic and zoom gatherings- we are so grateful for their commitment!
ROCS honors our incredible students, our lifelong learners who are seen and heard, and who we believe in! They are why we are here each day!
We want to invite everyone to become more connected to River Oak. We have opportunities to join the Ed Foundation, Parent Council, and our Charter Council. Our website, https://www.riveroakcharterschool.org, has contact information as well as school updates and information that you can use.

ROCS Volleyball Report- The Final Game of the Season!
In River Oaks' final game, last Wednesday, October 27th. The Firebirds defeated Baechtel Grove Middle School for the second time this season, 2 sets to none. The first set was contested. River Oaks’ biggest lead occurred when the score was 12-6. Baechtel
Grove had many chances to close in on River Oak. But the Firebirds were able to maintain their lead. The Cougars only had the game tied once, when the score was 15-15. Then Lola Pearson scored 5 straight aces to get the Firebirds a comfortable lead. River Oak kept serving hard and playing mistake-free and they were able to win the set 25-21.
In the second set, River Oak looked more comfortable. Lola Pearson had 9 aces and Adia Davis had 4, that was a huge difference to winning this set. Varsity Gaches also pitched in with 2 spikes. The Firebirds scored the final 13 points.
Since this was the Firebirds’ final game, they enjoyed an end of season celebration at Slam Dunk Pizza in Willits. Coach Martinez said a few things about each player and everyone received flowers. The A team’s final record was 8-3. The B team's final record was 6-5.
Even though volleyball is over for the year, Firebird fans don’t have to wait long to see River
Oak sports again; basketball season begins Thursday, November 16, at Upper Lake Middle
School.
