Have a Safe and Fun-Filled Fall Break!
As we approach Fall Break, we want to wish all our families a safe and restful time with loved ones. A quick reminder that there will be no school from October 7 through 11, 2024. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the rest of the semester!
Please note of the following bell schedule change during the week of October 21.
Wednesday, October 23. School day will end at 2:15 pm. Day normally ends at 1:30 pm.
Friday, October 25. School day will end at 1:30 pm. Day normally ends at 2:15 pm.
This change allows teachers, staff and other volunteers the opportunity to help set up all the activities associated with the Waikiki School Haunted House. This Halloween event is a great showcase for mindful habits including creativity, caring and cooperation, and humor and joy. Thank you to our School Community Council for allowing this schedule change.
Mahalo for your continued support, and enjoy the break!

Sexual Violence Prevention
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to inform you about the distribution of a new Sexual Violence Prevention Parent Brochure, which is available to view online here. This brochure provides important information about child sexual abuse, including how to recognize warning signs and how to take preventive steps to protect children. If you would like to receive a printed version of this brochure, they are available in our school front office.
Purpose of the Brochure
Child sexual abuse is a serious and widespread issue, and many cases go unreported due to fear, shame, or lack of awareness. The goal of this brochure is to empower parents and guardians by providing helpful information to raise awareness and promote informed conversations with children about safety. By partnering together, we can take proactive measures to protect our children.
Why This is Important
The safety and well-being of our students is a priority for our school community. Unfortunately, child sexual abuse is an issue that affects many families, and it is critical that we provide parents and guardians with the knowledge and resources to recognize the signs and take action. Awareness and education are key to preventing abuse and protecting vulnerable children in our communities.
Role of Schools in Prevention
As educators, we play an essential role in preventing and reducing the risk of child sexual violence by providing families with the tools and information they need to safeguard their children. This brochure is part of our broader effort to ensure that our students grow up in a safe, supportive, and healthy environment.
Information Available in Multiple Languages
To make the information accessible to all families, the brochure has been translated into 15 languages. You can access these translations via the QR code on the back of the brochure. If you prefer a printed copy in a specific language, please feel free to request one from the school office, and we will be happy to provide it.
What’s Included in the Brochure
The brochure offers easy-to-understand information on child sexual abuse, including how to prevent it, how to recognize signs of abuse, and what to do if you suspect abuse. It also includes practical tips on how to talk to your child about safety, boundaries, and where to find additional resources for support.
Support for Parents and Guardians
We understand that this can be a sensitive topic for many parents and guardians. Our school is here to provide support and additional resources if you have any concerns or questions.
Next Steps
We encourage you to review the brochure and use it as a guide to have ongoing conversations with your child about safety and boundaries. If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school administration.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued partnership in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Sincerely,
Ryan Kusuda

A Reminder about Pets and other Animals brought on Campus
While we love animals here at Waikīkī School, we kindly ask that you leave your pets at home when you come to any campus event or for drop-off and pick-ups. Animals on campus are permissible only with expressed permission to school administration.
A Reminder about Riding Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards on Campus
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and visitors on campus, I would like to remind everyone of a few important guidelines during our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up periods.
For the safety of everyone, we kindly ask that parents and students refrain from riding bikes, skateboards, or scooters while on campus during these busy times. Our goal is to prevent any accidents or injuries, particularly when large numbers of people are moving through the parking lot and walkways.
We encourage students and parents to walk their bikes, skateboards, and scooters once they enter school grounds to ensure a safe and smooth transition for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe environment for our school community.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the office.
