HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 2 | 9 FEB 2024
God of Mercy, may this Lenten season bring us the blessing of your forgiveness and the gift of your light. Please help us this week to be kind, to do our very best, and to be generous when we are helping others.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen
Ash Wednesday
Next Wednesday our Years One to Six students will be attending Ash Wednesday mass. You are very welcome to join in.
We begin the forty days of Lent, the time when we get ready to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection at Easter. During these days of Lent, we are invited to turn back to God with all our hearts, to try to be more of the kind of person that God calls us to be. We will be marked with a Sign of the Cross made with ashes. The mark on our forehead is a sign to everyone that we meet today that we are taking Lent seriously and that we are trying to be better friends of Jesus.
Hi Everyone,
Back to hot days! And wow, Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day are the same day. Best of luck!
We appreciated the big turnout of parents and guardians at the information sessions on Tuesday evening. These meetings provide the opportunity to share with you a sense of the year ahead as well as getting to know your child’s teacher. Thankyou very much for coming, and thankyou to our teachers for preparing for the evening.
Have a great weekend

Maintenance
- A major tree survey followed by pruning is almost complete. This happens annually.
- Internal painting has all been touched up
- Air conditioners have all been serviced
Still to come:
- Reroofing of the Music and Art Rooms, changing from tile to tin. We will proceed once the bureaucracy approves.
- Clean-up of the grounds around the hall and along Angelico Street
- Repainting of directional markers in the car park
A couple more reminders
- Thank you for honouring the ‘calm classroom', farewelling your child at the door. This practice truly makes a substantial difference to the start of your child’s day and is highly valued and appreciated by their teachers.
- Some parents have asked to meet with their child’s teacher which is fine after a few weeks when the teacher has spent a good deal of time in their company coming to know them. In this way, we do our best to ensure a two-way informed conversation. I make the point that the class handovers at the end of last year from one teacher to the next were extensive and teachers are well informed about the children in their care for the start of 2024.
Thanks very much for your support.
Project Compassion
Next Wednesday the eldest child in each family will bring home a Project Compassion collection box. Donations can be placed in this box in support of Caritas Australia and returned to school by Monday 25 March.
This year's Project Compassion theme is 'For All Future Generations'. This message invites us to step up for those who do not have the essential resources they need for their survival and those whose needs at this time are far beyond ours. By putting compassion into action, we can make a difference today, 'For All Future Generations'.
Locavora Lunch Orders
Locavora are supplying our lunches for 2024 - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They are a well-regarded company. The process is quite straightforward. It is important to note the cut-off times for ordering lunches:
- Cut off time to place a lunch order is 8:30am for same day delivery Monday and Wednesday.
- To place an order after the cut off time on Monday and Wednesday, please call the store on 9481 4500, our store mobile on 0473 779 244.
- Late orders will not be accepted after 9am Monday to Thursday.
- Due to the high volume of orders on Fridays, the cut off time is 7am Friday for same day delivery.
- Due to the volume of orders, we do not accept any late orders on Fridays.
Catering is for lunch only , so we will all need to ensure your child has recess packed every day.
Our amazing P&F are now managing the distribution of lunches from next term. Your support to make this big change work has been nothing short of remarkable - thankyou on behalf of all of our children.
