Easton School Newsletter (Volume 2, Edition 64)
Week of May 20 - 24
Superintendent Information
Dear Jaguar Friends & Families,
Just reminder, there will be no school on Friday May 24th. This day was originally a planned "Snow Day" on the school district calendar but since it was not used, it is now a "No School" day.
Saturday, May 25 is the annual Easton Memorial Day Parade and Car Show. Easton ASB and Jag Leadership students will be selling Easton mugs, Easton stickers, Easton t-shirts, and baked goodies. All proceeds for sales will go to our ASB fund to pay for field trips, sports, and other student activities. Please stop, pick up some of our Easton merch to help fund our student programs.
Several dates to place on your radar are Saturday, June 8th for Graduation and Monday, June 10 for Easton School Awards Assembly. These next few weeks are always a whirlwind, so hang on and enjoy the ride.
Have a great week and Go Jags!

Easton Environmental Research Project Update
Dear Jag Families,
As many of you, the staff and students of Easton School District are conducting an environmental research project at the school supported by Dr. Lewis and her research. Students have been collecting data on sound levels inside and outside the school. They have also been testing soil samples and water samples. Part of the environmental project is researching how different aspects of the environment can affect both physical and mental health.
We would like your help with this project!
We are sending home a survey that we would appreciate you taking the time to fill out. Inside the envelope you will find an explanation of the research project, what it entails and a copy of the survey. The survey is just to collect health data information. The survey does not collect any personal data, nor does it share the collected information with anyone but those working directly with the project. It doesn't even ask for your name.
We would appreciate you taking the time to fill out the survey and return it to the school by dropping it off at the pink drop off box at the office. The data will then be gathered from the collected surveys and analyzed based on research and the other data that has been collected.
Thank you!
Easton Staff and Dr. Lewis
County Commissioner Visits K-1 Classroom
The class entered a Kittitas County coloring contest for Government Week. Students drew pictures of family traditions in our county! Commissioner Osiadacz presented the blue ribbon winners! Winners received a season's pass to the Kittitas County Fair in Ellensburg! Congratulations!!!
New Grant Awarded
Congratulations to our wonderful School Secretary Rachel Cummings on her hard work in writing a successful grant with the Secretary of State's Office regarding records retention and file storage!
Due to Rachel's work, Easton will receive $12,000 to improve how we store/retain our District records. Our records room will receive a total makeover. Rachel's grant application was one of only 25 selected out of the 122 received this grant cycle statewide.
June Spirit Week
Athletics for 2024-25
We know that making a commitment for athletic for next years seems way off in the future.
However, with a school our size every student's decision makes an impact. Mr. Hickman is requesting parents and guardians to please be talking to your students about their commitment to playing next year as he needs to order uniforms, determine schedules, hire coaches, etc.
Currently, Mr. Hickman is gathering numbers for next year's sports: HS volleyball, HS basketball, HS football, HS track, JH basketball and JH volleyball. He is also looking at the possibility for JH Track and JH Wrestling, but we need student participation numbers to make that happen.
School Supply Drive
Jerrol's in Ellensburg is organizing its 3rd annual School Supply Drive for any Kittitas County student in need. Last year, Jerrol's provided supplies to 250 students. This year they hope to exceed 500 students.
Students and their families can go to Student.Jerrols.com to register for their supplies and list what they need. The school supplies will be customized to the student’s request. Jerrol's will then contact the students and their families for supply pick up.
A huge Easton "Thank You" goes to Jerrol's for making this happen for student's in Kittitas County!
