Greetings, WBMS families,
Happy Friday! Just as a reminder, we have a three day weekend in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. I hope this extra day will give your family some quality time together. Martin Luther King Jr made a point to prioritize serving others. I am so proud of the work that WBMS does in regards to service learning. I was able to sit in on our 7th grade Character Council meeting this morning and hear about how they are planning to host our Walk For Water event that is coming up on March 23rd. These types of events give our students the opportunity to serve others and feel proud of their contributions to helping those in need.
As a reminder, Semester 1 report cards were sent home with students yesterday. You can also view your student’s report card by logging into Infinite Campus.
Have a great weekend! I look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, January 21st.
Warm regards,
Julie Morris

UPDATE: Trex School Recycling Program
At this time we are pausing the Trex School Recycling program at WBMS. We want to extend a huge thank you to the entire WBMS community for supporting this program. Over the last 2.5 years, the Webb Bridge community has collected over 700 pounds of soft plastic for recycling! This is 700 pounds of plastic that will never find its way into our waterways, pollute our ecosystems, and endanger our marine wildlife. We hope that you have formed a lifelong habit and will continue to recycle soft plastics on your own. Kroger has been an amazing partner in this program, and you can continue to drop off soft plastics (#2 and #4) in their collection receptacles. We look forward to beginning the recycling program again in August 2025, when the new school year begins. Thank you again Jaguars!
WBMS Recognized as a Grief Sensitive School!
The WBMS counseling department participated in a Grief Sensitive Schools Training presented by New York Life. In return for participation in the training, WBMS received a $1000 grant from New York Life to help meet the social and emotional needs of the school. WBMS is also a recognized Grief Sensitive School as a result of the training. We are so excited about receiving this grant and will be using the funds to benefit WBMS students!

Engineering Pathway
Courses within Alpharetta High School’s engineering pathway is made of three class Foundations of Engineering, Engineering Concepts, and Engineering Applications. Students in the first year learn various power tools, SolidWorks, (computer aided design) and Arduino programming. Then progress in the second year to having more control of their projects and skills including milling and welding. In final year of the pathway students have total control of the engineering projects and skills.
Example Projects completed during the pathway designing and building a cardboard chair. Designing, Building and Racing Small Air Compressed Cars. Automatic Can Crusher, anything involving , motors, pneumatics, and microcontrollers.
At the end of the pathway, students will earn a pathway completer certificate and a metal. Pathway completers will sit for the End-of-Pathways Assessment where they can earn the End-of Pathway cord for graduation. Both recognitions are great for resumes.
IB- Design Technology: International Baccalaureate’s new designing course focuses on product design from raw material to final product with an effort to ensure the product is a benefit to society.
Examples are: Sudden Cardiac Arrest Detection Device, a gimbal for a video camera, ultrasonic walking stick for the blind, anything a student can imagine and design.

JOIN PTA!
Our school was named a 2022-2023 National PTA School of Excellence!
To earn this designation WBMS had to demonstrate families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and that our PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!
To learn more about this accomplishment or to support our PTA during the Fall Membership Drive, visit wbmspta.org.
