It's hard to believe we are down to the last five days of the first semester! As you can see in this month's Principal Report there has been no shortage of activity during the month of December. Several student groups have engaged in giving-related service projects. The FFA students passed out gifts to the elementary students, FBLA & STUCO members purchased gifts for needy families, and the art club students gave their own time after school to decorate the doors and hallways in the high school. Mr. Owen's Christmas music has helped keep the the atmosphere light this past week. Rest assured it's all business once the bell rings and the doors close. The faculty & students have been working hard the past couple of weeks to spread Christmas Cheer.

• Students and staff participated in the 12 Days of Christmas Dress-up.
• Mrs. Tilley, and her baking class students baked a variety of sweets & treats to share with the faculty & staff.
• Mrs. Hensley's Art Club students decorated the doors and hallways throughout the high school.

The students in Mrs. Hensley's Art Club went all out this year by decorating the classroom doors and the hallways! There is far too much to show in this SMORE, but take my word for it, the hallways were transformed into a Christmas wonderland! The pictures below are just a few of the doorways and hall decorations.

For the 6th year in a row the Forsyth FFA purchased, and wrapped, a Christmas gift for every student Pre-K through 4th grade. Senior Braxton Gross donned the Santa Suit this year to help the rest of the FFA students pass out the gifts this week. The annual fruit sales arrived last week and were delivered just in time for Christmas.

If you are in the band you know that December means Christmas parade season! The band marched in the annual Branson Adoration parade on Sunday December 8th and the Forsyth Christmas parade on Saturday December 14th.

On Sunday December 15th the band performed their annual Christmas Concert in the PAC.

Several students participated in the fall play - Peter & Wendy on December 6-8. As always the students put on an incredible performance under the direction of Mr. Penton.

The Forsyth Chess Team competed in the Monett tournament on December 5th. Our students performed very well against the field of 76 participants.

Forsyth HS Results:

1st place! - Slaten Gass (8th grade student) - 5.0 Undefeated! This is the first time one of our students has won 1st at a tournament.

The JROTC had a busy November & December. Here are just a handful of JROTC events that occurred this past month.

• Several JROTC Cadets, Cross-Country runners and 1st Sgt. Voegel, participated in the Turkey trot at the Branson Landing.
• The MCJROTC students read to elementary students.
• The Raider Team continues to work out and practice in preparation for their upcoming competitions in January.
• Cadets marched in the Forsyth Christmas Parade on December 14th.

FBLA and Student Council's Christmas Service Project - members' fundraising efforts allowed them to supply Christmas gifts ranging from toys, books, clothes, and necessities for two local children!

Bass Club had a club tournament at the end of November. Zeb Sanders, Hudson Russell, and their guide Josh Sanders won the tournament with largest bass and most amount of bass caught during a club challenge. The team received awards from Bass Pro and were named winners of the November Bass Club challenge.

The winter sports season has begun! The boys basketball team took 2nd place in the Forsyth Tournament losing a close game to Carl Junction. Several Football players received district and state recognition for their hard work on and off the field.
