Co-Presidents' Update
A huge thank you to Rebecca Shaw for her tireless efforts in organizing and running a successful Election Day Bake Sale. The McKinley PTO made over $1200 thanks to Rebecca, her volunteers, and the generous voters. Great job everyone!
This week we have a Dining Out Event at Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday, April 13th from 5:00-8:00p.m. For the McKinley PTO to receive money from your purchase, you will need to put your receipt in a box on the front counter (a teacher will be able to direct you to the box). The McKinley PTO will receive 20% of all receipts placed in the box. Some teachers/staff members have volunteered to be at this event to greet your family, help serve food, and point out the receipt box. Here is a schedule of the teachers:
5:00-6:00: Mrs. Lawinger, Mrs. Netko, and Mrs.Uden
6:00-7:00: Mrs. Loechler
7:00-8:00: Mrs. Leigh, Ms. Mottet, Mrs. Smith
Please join other McKinley families for a night out on the town and help fund the composting program for another year at McKinley. Be sure to thank the teachers for also supporting the PTO and families of McKinley by working the event.
We hope you have a great week!

Wauwatosa West Band Night
If you are looking for something to do next Saturday, 4/16, Tosa West’s We the People team is hosting a Band Night to raise money for their upcoming trip to DC. The team has 10 kids who attended McKinley and live in our neighborhood including Adam Fendos, Simon Ng, Nadiyah Salawdeh, Anna Baish, Libbi Fassbender, Noahy Suchy, Clare Honan, Max Herteen, Eileen Reetz and Aubrianna Mierow. The first band playing from 6-:45 will be Fellowship of the Strings, a high school fiddle group which includes neighborhood kids Adam, Simon and Max among other kids.
Below is the link to a flyer with information about it. It should be a fun night and a good excuse to get out!
We the People Fundraising
Dear McKinley Families,
At Wauwatosa West High School, a class known as “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution,” competed in a state competition at Marquette Law School on January 9th. This competition is a simulated congressional hearing before judges, demonstrating students’ understanding of the Constitutional principles of our government. The students were judged on understanding, constitutional application, reasoning, supporting evidence, responsiveness, and participation.
Three McKinley alumni, Simon Ng, Eileen Reetz, and Libbi Fassbender, were part of the team that won the state championship and will be representing the state of Wisconsin at national hearings in Washington D.C. on April 23-April 25. In addition to working hard to prepare for the national competition in Washington, their team of 29 students also has the tremendous task of raising $60,000 in the next ten weeks to ensure that our entire team may travel together to the national hearings. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to represent Wauwatosa and the State of Wisconsin.
The McKinley Messengers are hoping the McKinley community can help support these students. Therefore, donations can be sent to Chad Mateske at Tosa West. Checks should be made out to Tosa West with ‘We the People’ in the memo section. Donations and messages can also be submitted through their secure GoFundMe website at gofundme.com/t9xfgyxc.
Sincerely,
McKinley Messengers
