Zearn
Learning with Zearn helps math make sense.
We offer 3 opportunities for your students to thrive using Zearn:
1. as a full curriculum, aligned with CA state standards
2. as a supplement, where parents make an account and assign their child to complete a "mission" that supports the live instruction they are receiving from their core curriculum
3. as an intervention option, ordered in the COS by their IST, but assigned lessons and tracked by a paraprofessional
Why is Zearn worth trying out for your K-6 student?
💪Topics don’t have to align with math concepts taught live
đź’ŞVideos are engaging
đź’ŞVideos have pause points for student to try it on their own
đź’ŞEmbedded interactive math models throughout lessons
đź’ŞEach problem gives real-time feedback
đź’ŞThere is built-in help for students who are struggling to answer a question correctly
Option 1: Using Zearn as a full curriculum
Students learn these big ideas in two ways: Independent Digital Lessons and Concept Exploration. When using Zearn Math as a core curriculum, in order to stay on track to complete all grade-level content over a 36-week academic year, students need to complete three Independent Digital Lessons and three Concept Explorations every week. The scope and sequence of the Missions for each grade are outlined in the Curriculum Map, below.
*** Workbooks can be ordered in the OS using school funds ***
Option 2: Using Zearn as a supplement
Using Zearn as a supplement can be highly effective for enhancing your understanding and skills.
Identify your student's needs and set goals to accomplish.
Create your own free account
To create your own free account, go to Zearn's website
Sign in with Google
Select “I’m an adult”
Enter account and school info (I selected homeschool)
Select “create account”
You will automatically be guided through a walkthrough of Zearn math
Build your roster and invite them to join
Once an account is created, using the roster tab, you can add students, get login cards to share with them, and view your class code. It doesn’t matter what grade level you select for your class. After the class is created, you can go in individually and adjust the true grade level for each student so that they start at their level. (see below)
By selecting any student on your roster, you can edit which “mission” you want them to be assigned.
From the home page, try Zearn as a student.
Option 3: Use Zearn as your intervention
⚡IST will administer appropriate diagnostics to determine in which area the student needs the most support.
⚡IST will complete survey and sign student up in the Curriculum Ordering System (COS)
⚡IST will check in weekly with family to review student progress
