December 2024
Happy December, everyone! I cannot believe that we are in the last month of 2024! Where is the time going?! I know all of us took the month of November to reflect on how we are so thankful to God for all of the ways he has blessed us and continuing that into December. It is such a special time of year, reflecting on all that has happened the past 12 months before a new year arises! I cannot help but think of how greatly God has blessed us and our children at Woodland Oaks. We have had growth in our Children's Ministry program this year in new children visiting and members, as well as new adults stepping in to teach these precious little souls! We have wrapped up the final part of the New Testament in Journey Land rotations and have started back at Genesis to help our children work their way through the Bible over several years. Our Children's Ministry program has partnered with parents to help our children learn more about God's Word through programs such as Bible Buddies, the Memory Verse Challenge, Bible Builders, Bible Bowl, and Bible Classes. We've helped our children learn how to have a servant's heart through quarterly service projects and the Dorcas class for our girls. We are all working together to raise up a new generation in our church while instilling leadership skills and knowledge in them through programs such as our 5th Wednesday Boys Singing and Summer Boys and Girls leadership classes. Our congregation is helping to teach our kids the huge power of prayer while bringing the older and younger generations together in the Prayer Buddy Adoption program. Our children are building friendships and learning the true meaning of fellowship through being together at worship/before/after, VBS, socials, Sprouts Storytime, and everything else offered at WOCC. I am beyond thankful that our congregation is full of people with huge hearts, helping hands, and an incredible love for God and to do His will. I cannot wait to see what 2025 will hold for our church family!
I have loved stepping in as the Children's Ministry Coordinator 12 months ago, and am so thankful for everyone being so supportive and patient with me as I have navigated this role of serving our congregation. The children are such a huge light and blessing to me! I cannot thank you enough for your words of encouragement, kindness, wisdom, and all of the help you have given me to help make everything in our Children's Ministry program possible. I love that we have a common love and focus to help point our little ones to God in all things!
Sprouts Storytime- December 11th
Wear your pajamas for Sprouts Storytime on December 11th for a fun PJ theme!
Cookies and Cocoa
Join us on December 15th for a fun Cookies and Cocoa social! Please bring a tray of your favorite seasonal cookie/treat to share with others! We will all decorate gingerbread men cookies, while having a cookie swap and getting to take home some delicious sweet treats! Hot cocoa will also be served. This is a congregation wide event held in the FLC from 5-6 pm.
Let's Make a Joyful Noise!
Join us as we bring cheer and song to the residents of Worthington Manor in Conroe on December 21st at 10:30 am for caroling and to pass out candy canes to the residents in attendance. We will meet at the nursing home at 10:20. Several WOCC members such as the Malones and Mr. Howard Yates reside here, and we cannot wait to bring some joy to them and their friends! Parents are responsible for taking their children to and from the event and are asked to stay and sing with us! Please pick up a Caroling Songbook on Wednesday, December 17th from the welcome center if you'd like to make sure you're familiar with the songs we will sing prior to caroling. Please let Janna Wilkerson know if you plan to attend.
