5th GRADE POETRY SLAM
Our 5th grade students learned all about poetry and the use of stanzas, metaphors and similes. They thought deep and learned all about interpreting and understanding what the poet is wanting to express. They had a great opportunity to read their poems at Dickinson State University on a stage in front of their parents and peers. Way to go!
5th GRADE CONCERT
The 5th grade presented a remarkable program titled "Salute a Veteran's Day Program" by: John Jacobson in honor of Veterans day, showcasing their talents and commitment.

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!
SEL SNAPSHOT
Mrs. Fisher (school counselor) is hard at work providing SEL (Social Emotional Learning) lessons in each classroom. Did you know that each classroom receives 80 minutes a month of these SEL lessons? How amazing is that!!!
Have you ever wondered what in the world we are doing in these lessons? We use lots of things to provide these lessons with the main ones being: Quaver, Second Step, Keys of Excellence, and Mind-up. We have worked hard to create a scope and sequence that follows the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) competencies (self-awareness; self-management; social awareness; relationship skills; responsible decision-making) and have also created assessments for each competency. In December we will finish up our unit of self-management. These lessons focus specifically on managing emotions and behaviors as well as working towards goals.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

MUSIC NEWS - MRS. Dahlstrom
This month we will begin with the 3rd grade concert at 6pm on December 2. From there, all classes will be doing work with The Nutcracker and other holiday-related music. The younger grades will continue to work on music basics, while the upperclassmen will be exploring instruments such as recorders and ukeleles. We will also have carolers from the high school singing for us the week before break!
Mrs. Dahlstrom
PHY ED NEWS - MR. SCHATZ
Physical Education in December will start with our scoops unit, which involves working on throwing and catching with a partner and toward a target. The next unit will be a volleyball/balloons unit, where we will be working on different volleyball skills such as bumping, setting, spiking, passing, etc. These two units should take up most of December, getting us to our winter break and bringing in the New Year!
Mr. Schatz
The resource for December discusses "Healthy Media Balance" as we enter the holiday season and more time at home.
Another note, December 9 - 16 is Computer Science Education (CS Ed) Week. If you would like more information to share with staff, students, or families, please reach out to me!
