Commitment to Excellence, the Cavalier Way!
Principal's Message
As we reach the mid-point of Marking Period 1, I want to take a moment to commend our students for a continued great start to the school year and the hard work they are putting forth.
Climate & Culture: I want to give a big shoutout to our students for doing an awesome job keeping phones away and hoods off. Our Cavaliers continue to navigate this change very well. When reminders are needed, interactions remain positive and respectful. Positive interactions with staff and fellow students are key to maintaining a respectful and supportive school environment.
As the weather becomes colder and as we move into the routine of the school year, please continue to encourage your children to adhere to these important CCPS policies--phones away (including the hall) and hoods off (in all school spaces). Reminder: non-compliance or disrespect towards staff when enforcing a CCPS or school policy has no place at Calvert High and students who engage in these behaviors will receive consequences.
Academics: The first report card of the year is quickly approaching! We have approximately 4 weeks left until the end of the first Marking Period. Parents/guardians please review your child's HAC and grades. While in high school, they continue to need checks from home regarding their high school performance. Encourage a strong finish to the finish line, October 31st, the last day of the Marking Period. Attending school daily, turning in all assignments and actively engaging and participating in their classes are important for academic success.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership for student and CHS success.
High School Voter Registration Drive
The Student Government Association at each of Calvert County’s four high schools are offering student led voter registration drives. Students who are 16 years or older are permitted to register to vote. The Calvert County League of Women Voters are supporting the students’ effort by providing certified voter registrars to assist with the event. In most cases, perspective voter registrants scan a barcode and complete their registration online. These voter registration drives are non-partisan events. The voter registration drive at our school will be: Tuesday, October 8 during the lunch shifts (10:15 to 12:37). Please reach out if you have any questions.

Attendance Matters
Attending school is more than just a daily routine; it’s a crucial part of personal and academic growth. School provides a structured environment where students can develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. Beyond academics, school is a place where lifelong friendships are formed, and social skills are honed. Regular attendance ensures that students don’t miss out on valuable learning opportunities and experiences that help to shape their future. By being present, students can fully engage in their education, participate in extracurricular activities, and prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. If your child is absent, please provide documentation to the school to ensure their absence is properly recorded. Remember, every day at school is a step towards academic and personal success!

Remember, a career plan is not set in stone; it can change and evolve over time. Remain flexible and periodically reassess your plan to ensure it aligns with your goals.
