A Note From Our Principal, Mrs. Lee
It's hard to believe that we are already into the month of November! Though the weather might be turning a little colder, I truly hope that studies are heating up for our students.
Please remember that we need all students at school every day unless they are sick and/or running a fever. Our school hours are 8:15 am-3:40 pm. If your child is absent, please send a note with them once they return to school.
Benefits of Good School Attendance
- Students who miss fewer days become better readers.
- Good attendance habits pay off! More school days attended increases a child’s academic success, and improves their chances to earn a high school diploma and a college degree.
- School keeps you safe, educates you, and prepares you for your future.
Thank you for your continued support. Take care!
Happy Fall Dolphins!
Reminders:
The clinic has been busy getting all of our vision and hearing screenings done! Referrals are being sent with students who failed any of their screenings along with an application to See to Succeed. If your child received a referral, please get those returned to me as soon as possible. The deadline for See to Succeed applications is December 8, 2023. Vision can affect learning which is why it is very important that students who need glasses wear them while in school.
Immunization catch-up schedules are ongoing. Before Christmas break immunization reminders will be sent out to students that are due. Please be sure vaccinations are staying up to date and return proof of immunization to the clinic. Our goal at Hairgrove is to have 100% vaccination status and healthy students!
Students need to stay home for a fever of 100 and above. May return to school with doctor clearance or fever free for 24 hours without a fever reducer.
Pre-K and Kindergarten student parents: Please continue sending an extra set of clean clothes in the student's backpack. Parents will be called to bring clothes up to the school if none are packed in the backpack.

November Smore from the Music Room
Hello Hairgrove Family and Friends!
Our dolphins continue to work hard and have fun in music class this past month! Kinder students are still learning and practicing our five voices. Soon we will be moving on to the steady beat like our 1st graders. We have a favorite friend named “Bee Bee Bumble Bee” who I am sure our dolphins in 1st or 2nd grade could tell you about. Kinder will be introduced to him soon!
2nd graders can identify the steady beat easily and are starting to discover and label rhythm (the way the words go) in rhymes and songs. We are about to have a lot of fun singing and playing “Apple Tree”. We did great reviewing “Bee Bee Bumble Bee” from last year!
3rd grade students have been working so hard on their November program pieces. They have access to practice at home through Schoology! If you want a sneak peek of what’s in their upcoming program, have them show you on their computers. I can’t wait for their performance on Tuesday, November 14th!
Our 4th and 5th grade dolphins learned a stick passing game called “Sarasponda” they can sing for you. They amazed me with the way they never gave up as they tried to learn this game demonstrating great beats and rhythm keeping skills! So many of our 5th graders remembered it from last year and are about to be challenged by changing the tempo. I can’t wait to see how fast or slow they can go!
Important Musical Announcements:
All 3rd Grade students will be invited to perform at our 3rd Grade Music Program on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. We will need all 3rd graders there that night at 5:40 p.m. so they are ready to perform on the cafeteria stage!
4th & 5th Grade Choir program is Thursday, November 30th at 5:30pm. We will continue to practice every Thursday (4th Grade) and every Monday morning (5th grade) this month preparing for this performance. Students will need to be picked up/dropped off in the back parking lot for rehearsal.
I hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming performances!

Hello Hairgrove families!
In Art class, we are working on our drawings for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest. We are drawing farms, barns, chickens, cows, pigs, cowboys and more! Each student has the opportunity to have their artwork chosen to represent Hairgrove! Everyone is doing a great job so far. Stay tuned!

Reminders from Coach Dyson:
Hairgrove Parents,
This is just a friendly reminder to talk to your students about the importance of safety in the gym. Safey involves keeping shoes tied and on the feet, hands and feet to oneself, and watching out for others (nearly a third of their grade level is with them in PE), and also respecting others by choosing kind words. At Hairgrove, we call this "Speaking with good purpose" according to our 8 Keys of Excellence that we recite daily in the gym. The gym is a very fun place where we learn how to get along with others, sharing, and how to be fit and healthy, so we also have to have an environment where we feel safe and comfortable because everyone is showing respect and kindness to each other. If we work together, our students will develop kind habits that will follow them through life.
Thank you,
Coach Dyson
