Letters from Livingston
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Welcome Sam Houston families,
As we embark on a new academic year, I wanted to share some important information to ensure a smooth transition and successful continuation of your child's education.
We cannot wait to fill our Hall of Fame with the faces of our very own Sam Houston STEM Academy students, who bring their "A" Game every day in ALL they do to meet the goals they have set for this school year! We are ready to celebrate TOGETHER the growth and mastery of expectations in every facet of their education, from academics, art, physical education, robotics, and UIL to character, actions, respect and regard for one another, and much more.
We hope you will join us on our journey to the TOP as we encourage your students that "you don't show up on game day and expect to be GREAT, but greatness happens in practice." Our expectations are high for our students when it comes to showing UP and showing OUT on the practice field of our halls, classrooms, fields, gym, playgrounds, cafeteria, and community. We practice respect and regard for others through our actions in ALL we do, WHEREVER we go, as we represent our Sam Houston and MISD families. #HornsUP 🤘💓
Students who grow and master the expectations set forth will be recognized and rewarded through campus celebrations and incentives.
We encourage continued dedication to academic success. If you have any concerns or questions about your child's performance, please don't hesitate to contact the respective teachers.
Various school events and activities will occur throughout the school year. Stay informed about these events through our school newsletter, Campus Webpage and MISD Mobile App Live Feed (linked below), campus Facebook page, and announcements sent out via Thrillshare messenger. Your participation and support are highly appreciated.
As we embark on this journey together as a team, I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of our school. With our collective efforts, we can create an environment where every student thrives academically, socially, and personally.
I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships, fostering open communication, and working together to make Sam Houston STEM Academy an even more exceptional place for learning and development.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration in your child's education. We look forward to a successful school year of growth, learning, and achievements.
Here's to a successful and rewarding journey ahead!
If you have any thoughts, ideas, or concerns that you would like to share, please feel free to reach out. My door is always open, and I am here to serve and support the Sam Houston STEM Academy and Marshall ISD community in every way possible.

Drop-Off Procedures
For the safety and health of our Sam Houston students and staff, if the temperature is below 40 degrees or it is raining we will have one drop off line. We will begin to help students out of their vehicle's at 6:50 am and do take into account the longer drop off time when showing grace for tardies on these days.
Please Handle With Care!
If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, rough morning, or a tough weekend, please email “handle with care” and your child’s name to Mrs. G and Mrs. Livingston at the addresses below and we will forward it to your child’s teachers. Nothing else will need to be said or asked unless you are willing. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience, or a little more love than usual during the day.
Please Make sure your car tags are visible at ALL times during student pick-up!
We want to ensure our students are safely picked up from school. You MUST have your car tag visible or you will be asked to pull to the side and will have to show your id to pickup a student. Please keep tags visible until your child is in the vehicle with you. Do not take them down once your number has been entered. This will help the line move more quickly. It will continue to get faster as students learn the procedures. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We have created a new system that should remain over the next several years where your student will have the same tag number for their entire duration at Sam Houston as well as if they have siblings and mergers. Thank you for your patience as we work out all the kinks to improve our processes & make things easier and smoother for our Sam Houston families.
Thank you for getting your student to school on time!

Attendance Matters!
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Throughout the month of September we will have student and parent rewards and celebrations for students with unexcused tardies, early checkout, or absences!
Attendance matters, this includes tardies and early checkouts. 3 early checkouts will equate to one absence. Over the span of time, if a student misses 2 days of school a month, they will have missed up to 20 days in a year, and over 90 hours of instructional time. This is a vital part of their instruction and education. Attendance policies can be reviewed in the MISD Student Handbook. However, we do understand life happens and students get sick. Absences are excused by turning in physician notes and our campus will accept three parent written notes. These can be turned in by your child to the office or emailed to our office.
