Happy October!
What a great time for everyone at the Montpelier Fall Festival. A special shout out to Edisa Muller for organizing an amazing event. Also want to thank Ms. Michelle Harper and the MSMS Leadership Team, Don Taylor, Drew McNaughton and the MSMS Sustain Leadership team for their participation in running the day. Likewise, thanks to school counselor, Britta Hock, and IA Tristan Von Duntz for joining me for some time in the dunk tank. It was a beautiful day and was wonderful to see so many Gators out enjoying the event and coming together as a community.
This Thursday we have our Open House! We will be running Open House this year from 4-5:30. Our Specials teachers will be expecting our Grade 5 families in their spaces from 4-4:30 before going to stop into their homerooms. Grade 6 families will get to stop into their homerooms and team rooms before meeting with specials teachers from 4:30-5:00. And the 7/8 Families will visit their students classrooms from 4:00 to 5:00 and then visit the specials teachers at the end from 5:00 - 5:30. We hope you will come and join us at Open House. We love what we do and are happy to share with you. As a reminder, this is NOT a time for parent conferences. Those will happen in November. And if you ever have concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our teachers at any time.
We would love for you to be a more regular part of our community. Please consider applying as a substitute or volunteer in our building. The home and school connection and support of each other is critical as we help these young Gators navigate their way through their middle school years.
Consider Becoming a Substitute! As we close out this year, I'd love to encourage those who may be able to consider becoming a substitute teacher. Our schools are always in need of a substitute for our school staff. We love our substitutes and would love for you to consider helping our school community in this way!
Volunteering at MSMS! We love inviting Caregivers and Community Members to find ways to contribute to our school community! If you are interested in volunteering, please go to our district website at mrpsvt.org/volunteer to see the process and requirements for background checks. We have three levels of volunteers. Last year we had volunteers chaperone dances, pop popcorn with our Caregiver Alliance, serve on interview committees, chaperone field trips, and other opportunities. We welcome your partnership and will work with you to make yourself an approved volunteer.
#GATORNATION CELEBRATIONS!
Have a Gator Celebration? Email me! julieconrad@mpsvt.org
We LOVE to celebrate the great things our amazing GATORS do both in our school community and community at large! Do you have a shout out on how one of our students or staff have stepped up? Please email me and let me know so we can spread our Gator Pride!
Shout Out to Roan Sirvent! During this past summer Roan played drums with the Capital City Band throughout our concert season on Wednesday nights, as well as the Montpelier July 3rd festivities, Heaton Woods Nursing Home concerts, and a memorial concert for a former band-mate. Roan was a fantastic asset to the band and everyone was impressed how he jumped-in and took over the snare parts despite the limited rehearsals we were able to hold in the spring. He's also a really great person and always offered help to others.

Masque Theatre: Get your Tickets!
GET YOUR TICKETS NOW for the MRPS Masque Theatre production of Urinetown: The Musical by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann. This satirical comedy is bound to get you laughing and hopefully questioning as it paints a ridiculous picture of our potentially resourceless future.
December 7th-9th at Montpelier High School
Is this show for kids?:
"There's no adult language or sexual innuendo, though there is some brief, cartoon violence when evil is inevitably punished. Urinetown's comedy extends far beyond toilet humor, as well; the lyrics and jokes are clever enough to appeal to adults, and clean enough for children younger than high school age." -bmgator.org
