Tiger Talk
08/13/24
Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!
It was such a pleasure to meet our 2024-2025 Tiger families yesterday during our Meet the Teacher event. Thank you for coming! And, thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to support Tiger classrooms by serving as one of the homeroom parents. If you did not sign up to be a homeroom parent in your Tiger's class and would be interested in learning more about that, please chat with our PTO or your Tiger's homeroom teacher.
Please be sure to set up your parent portal in SMART Tag and tell us how your Tiger(s) will go home at the end of the school day. We need to know via SMART Tag how your Tiger(s) usually will go home (the default setting) and, if different, how your Tiger(s) will go home the first day of school. We rely on SMART Tag, and only SMART Tag, to provide us with this very important information. Please help us ensure that your Tiger(s) will be sent home the correct, safe way.
I am looking forward to greeting you all on our first day of school tomorrow morning. Our doors open at 7:20 am, and classes begin at 7:40 am.
Parents are cordially invited to join me in the Library for coffee at 7:50 am.
Be sure to wear your wristband to avoid the need for security check in tomorrow morning. If you did not obtain your wristband yesterday, please be sure to bring a photo ID with you tomorrow to obtain your wristband at the front desk.
Warmest regards,
Amy Russ, Principal

Water Bottles
We encourage you to send your child(ren) to school with a personal water bottle.
We have a total of eight water bottle filling stations on campus.
Please send your child with a refillable water bottle labeled with first and last name to ensure our students stay refreshed and hydrated. These bottles will be sent home daily to be cleaned and sanitized at home.
School Supplies
Although the deadline has passed for ordering WCHE supply kits online, it's not too late to shop for supplies! We have lists of the school supplies for 2024-2025 so that you can purchase supplies on your own from any source convenient to you.
If you have a concern about the affordability of school supplies, please feel free to reach out to our School Counselor, Mr. Boren. We often have a limited supply of kits available, and he will be happy to discuss this with you.

Updates from Food and Nutrition Services
Dear Lake Travis ISD Elementary School Parents/Guardians,
We would like to make you aware of several important updates as we continue preparing for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year:
Menus and Meal Prices
For the 2024-2025 school year, elementary breakfast and lunch meal prices will increase to $1.85 and $3.25, respectively. Menus and full snack lists can be found on Nutrislice, an online menu system which allows you to see pricing, nutrition, and allergen information for most items sold in our cafes. For menu and nutritional information on the go, we encourage our families to download the Nutrislice app. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. For more information, please visit our Menus & Meal Prices webpage.
Free and Reduced Priced Meal Benefits
For the 2024-2025 school year, Lake Travis ISD is pleased to announce that we will continue to provide breakfast and lunch meals at zero cost to all students who qualify for reduced-priced meals. Families are encouraged to apply for meal benefits via our online application. Links to the online application with instructions in both English and Spanish are available on our website at Free and Reduced Meal Program .
Meal Accommodations
Reasonable meal accommodations will be made for students who have the following:
- Medical disability that restricts his/her diet and
- The disability is supported by a medical statement signed by a medical authority.
Non-medical disabilities or special dietary needs may be accommodated by the Food and Nutrition Services department if a reimbursable meal is served. For additional information, families may access our complete Meal Accommodation forms on our website at Meal Accommodations.
Meal Accounts
All enrolled students at Lake Travis ISD have an established meal account. Adding funds to your student’s meal account is simple! Students may choose to deposit funds directly into their account in the cafeteria, or parents can access the online pre-payment system MySchoolBucks. Additional information on depositing funds into your students’ meal account can be found on our website at Meal Account Information.
Charge Policy
When a student’s meal account is depleted, the district will notify the parent. The student will be allowed to continue purchasing meals according to the grace period set by the school board in our Local Charge Policy. The policy allows for students to charge the dollar equivalent of up to two meals. Upon exhaustion of the grace period, the student may receive an alternate meal. Every effort is made to avoid bringing attention to such a student. The district will work with the parents to develop a schedule of repayment for any outstanding account balance. Although charges for meals provided during the grace period may be tracked on the student’s account, no additional fees or interest shall be charged by the District for meals purchased/charged during the grace period.
Sincerely,
Lianka Soliz

LTISD Introduces Google Classroom for Elementary Students
Dear Lake Travis ISD Elementary School Parents/Guardians,
We would like to share some exciting news about an important update in our approach to enhancing your child's learning experience. Starting with the 2024-2025 school year, we will transition from Schoology to Google Classroom for all students in PreK through 5th grade.
Why Google Classroom?
Google Classroom is a widely-used and intuitive learning management platform that provides numerous benefits for students, teachers, and parents. We believe this transition will have a positive impact on our school community. We look forward to supporting your student’s experience with Google Classroom.
Streamlined Communication: Google Classroom centralizes all class materials, assignments, and announcements in one place, making it easier for students to stay organized and for parents to stay informed.
Accessibility: Students can access Google Classroom from any device with internet connectivity, ensuring they have the tools they need at school and home.
Collaboration: The platform encourages collaboration through interactive assignments, discussions, and group projects, fostering a more engaging learning environment.
- Support for Diverse Learning Styles: Google Classroom offers various multimedia options for assignments and resources, catering to different learning preferences and needs.
What Does This Mean for You and Your Child?
The best way to familiarize yourself with Google Classroom is to regularly view the platform alongside your student. Families also have the opportunity to receive updates on their student’s progress and upcoming assignments through guardian summaries. These summaries can be sent to your email on a daily or weekly basis. If you are interested in receiving guardian summaries, please contact your student’s teacher.
We are confident that Google Classroom will greatly enhance our student's learning experiences and provide a more cohesive and interactive educational environment. Thank you for your continued support as we make this exciting transition together.
Sincerely,
Chris Woehl
Executive Director for Technology & Information Systems
