Green Meadow Snow Update
February 9,2025
Dear Green Meadow Community,
It certainly is a winter wonderland outside this morning! I hope you all have the opportunity to get outside and enjoy everything that a New England snow day has to offer. It's a great day for sledding, snow fort building, and neighborhood walks. Below you will find an animal track guide from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Nothing sparks a child's curiosity more than finding mysterious tracks in the snow. Below I have linked some read aloud books about animal tracks and animals in winter for students to enjoy. I encourage you to have your child watch them through You Tube Kids so that you can control what your child can access when the books are finished. You can set up a free family account using this link: https://www.youtubekids.com/
I want to remind families to send snow gear to school this week. Our snow-covered playground is calling and the temperatures look favorable for outdoor recess. If your child needs some of the items listed below, please contact Ann Rutherford, one of our school adjustment counselors, at arutherford@maynard.k12.ma.us. We have access to resources to help.
This week more snow is in the forecast so please make sure that you are receiving snow day alerts through the Maynard Public Schools school messaging system.
Enjoy the snow!

Winter is Here - Send the Snow Gear!
We are committed to getting students outside for recess throughout the winter with the exception of extreme cold temperatures. The change of scenery, fresh air, and physical play all support a successful day of learning. Please send your child to school with the following items:
- winter coat
- gloves or mittens
- a hat
- snow boots
- snow pants
Items should be labeled with your child's name. If you have items your child has grown out of that you would like to donate to the school or your child needs any of these items, please reach out to Ann Rutherford at arutherford@maynard.k12.ma.us or Maria Bourgeois at mbourgeois@maynard.k12.ma.us.
