Notes from the Principal
Dear John Wetten Families,
We are entering the homestretch of the school year during the month of May. While it is only a short period of time before students will be off for summer break, this month and next will be packed with learning and activities.
Students in grades 3-5 have been taking their state assessments in the areas of science, language arts, and math. We are proud of their efforts as they will finish these tests over the next several weeks.
A group of 4th grade students have been busy making John Wetten Elementary an even more beautiful place. They have been pulling weeds, tilling soil, and planting native plants in our courtyard. The end product will be a new garden space for all to enjoy, with the centerpiece being a beautiful Dogwood tree to provide some shade.
Thanks in large part to our PFO’s efforts, we will be hosting the John Wetten Elementary Carnival for the first time in a number of years. We hope you will join us for this evening fun for the whole family. It will take place here at the school on Friday, May 17th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
As you can see, there is a lot happening in our school and it would not be possible without the partnership between school and home. Thank you for continuing to support our school community and helping make JWE a great place for our kids!
Sincerely,
John McAndrews
Principal
John Wetten Elementary
Playground After School Pick-up
It has been great to see so many families out enjoying the playground on the east side of John Wetten after school. We are asking that any student staying to play after school has an adult chaperone with them. If your child is instructed to walk home without an adult, please help us in reminding them to head immediately to their after school plan location. This helps us ensure all of our students are supervised and make it home in a timely manner.
