Principal's Update
Hello Prairie View Families!
Welcome back to Semester 2 of our 24-25 school year! I hope that everyone had a great and reaxing break to spend time with family and friends. It is crazy to think that we are already to this point, but here we are! Semester 2 has a lot of exciting things coming our way for our students and staff. In January, we will quickly have our ILEARN Checkpoint #2 testing window come up, so we are looking forward to seeing the growth our students have made since Checkpoint 1. We will have a few days off here and there that are built in, but will always be ready for the impromptu snow day! The e-learning schedule is posted below. Or staff will be engaging in PD throughout this semester to polish our practices to give our students the best we can. Girls basketball will be starting soon as well so we look forward to another great season there! Reports cards are coming home today, 1/7/25, so make sure you check your students belongings to find those. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to any staff member and we will do what we can to get you answers.
GO BOBCATS!!
Sincerely,
Mr. Kris Staats
Principal

School Safety Recommendation Updates
Please see the below informaiton from Dr. White, NPUSC Superintendent, regarding a public meeting and updates on the school safety committee recommendations.
NPUSC Families and Staff,
This email is a follow up communication to the NPUSC community regarding the final recommendations of the broad-based safety committee that met this past semester.
The committee studied the possibility of weapon detection systems to be implemented at NPUSC schools. This was studied after Fall 2024 survey data revealed interest in the approach from both parents/guardians and staff.
The attached document includes a full summary of the committee's work and findings. The committee decided unanimously on December 11th to NOT recommend going forward with weapon detection system implementation in NPUSC Schools. The attached document details a full explanation behind the committee's work and final recommendations.
NPUSC community members are invited to a public input session at the New Prairie High School auditorium on January 14, 2025, at 6 pm central time. The NPUSC School Board will receive more information about committee recommendations and hear public input.

Students have E-Learning
NPUSC - Model Professional Learning Community District
NPUSC values professional development and our Professional learning community culture. During late start Fridays, teachers met to learn to grow together. At Prairie View, the teachers spend time answering and planning for the following questions together in their teams:
What do we want students to learn? (Essential standards)
How do we know they’ve learned it? (Common assessment development, scoring and analyzing
What do we do if they didn’t learn it? (remediation planning and RTI blocks)
What do we do if they do learn? (enrichment and RTI blocks)
In addition, we spend time learning together about new and innovative methods to become the best teaching staff we can be. Thank you for the continued support to allow teachers to grow and learn and be the best they can be for our students!
- Remember to get your background checks in for the year. Background checks must be turned in at LEAST 7 school days in advance to ensure you can participate in whatever activity you were hoping to join us for. Click here to fill yours out today!
Smart Social Digital Resources
We are excited to announce that the New Prairie United School Corporation has recently partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand resources for parents and students. SmartSocial covers a wide range of digital and social media topics that we feel are relevant to our students. We have purchased parent memberships for every parent in our district to give you access to these resources and help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students.
