Apollo Early Childhood Center
November, 2024 Updates
Principal's Corner
Dear Apollo Families,
It looks like Mother Nature has decided that fall is here. It's hard to believe that November is already upon us. Looking ahead:
- As a reminder, tomorrow, November 5th is a professional development day for our early childhood staff. Students, including child care, are not in session.
- Veterans Day is November 11th. Thank you to all of our veterans for your service; your courage, strength and dedication to keeping us safe does not go unnoticed.
- This month marks Parent Teacher Conferences for our building. Watch for communication from your child's teacher about setting up a time to meet.
- Picture retake day is November 20th.
- Our entire District, including Apollo, will be closed on November 28th and 29th in observance of Thanksgiving.
Until next month...
Warm Regards,
Jen Kidd
Inclement Weather
As we prepare for winter, remember that when Huron Valley Schools cancels classes due to inclement weather, Apollo is closed as well. This includes all child care classrooms.
Additionally, as winter roads are soon upon us, remember that arriving on time to school is crucial. Please plan accordingly to ensure that your student is set up to start their day successfully.
Dental Screenings
Michigan kindergartners are now required to have a dental screening, just as they are a vision screening, prior to enrolling in school. Below are some dental resources from the Oakland County Health Department should you need them.
Parking Lot Reminders
For the safety of everyone, please remember to watch your speed, yield to pedestrians, and avoid texting/using your cell phone in our school parking lots. Reminder: Our parking lots are meant for one-way traffic.
Additionally, as a reminder, bus traffic is heavy between 7:45 and 8:20 am and again from 2:45 and 3:15 pm. During these times, families must park at the front of the building and use the sidewalk. Please refrain from using the side parking lot during these times.
As always, we appreciate your support and commitment to helping our school community stay safe.

Illness
For the health of your child, other students, and our school staff, it is important to know when your child should stay home due to illness.
Students should stay home if they have any of the following: • fever of 100.4° or higher in the past 24 hours • undiagnosed rash with fever or itching • bad cough or difficulty breathing • vomiting or diarrhea in past 24 hours • sore throat, with fever or swollen glands, in the neck • symptoms of being sick such as being unusually tired, fussy, pale, or having difficulty waking.
We encourage you to seek medical attention when your child is sick and to follow your health care provider's recommendations about returning to school. THIS LINK has good information from the Oakland County Health Department about common communicable diseases such as Hand Foot & Mouth Disease and Strep Throat.
HVS App
Did you know that you can get set up to receive district notifications through our HVS app? In addition to our typical modes of communication, these notifications will be sent to inform our HVS families about school closings, school day schedule reminders and any other important information.
