Notes from the Principal
Goal Setting Conferences
We look forward to seeing you and your student next week for Goal Setting Conferences. If you haven't selected a time on your teacher's schedule yet, we invite you to do so this week.
Conferences are an important milestone in the school year; a time to celebrate each student's strengths and identify meaningful learning goals for the school year. We look forward to spending time with each family, learning from one another and planning for the success of your learner!
Listening Sessions
Last week at our PTA Meeting and Principal's Coffee, we spent time with several Buckingham families and staff, sharing and listening around the topic of School Safety. This is a focus area for Buckingham this year, and we have goals to support all aspects of safety in our community.
In response to questions and feedback from last year, we heard from Ms. Alaina (our school counselor) about ways we are supporting social-emotional well-being for all students. We explored the Bend-La Pine Student Code of Conduct, district/school expectations and levels of support for students. We also talked about what it means to be an inclusive community and ways we are . We just scratched the surface and want to hear more from our community!
On November 19th we will offer two Listening Sessions for Buckingham Families. One will take place from 8-9:30 a.m.(during the school day), and the other from 5:30-7 p.m. in the evening. Childcare will be available for the evening session. An invitation to RSVP will be shared soon.
What is a Listening Session? Listening Sessions are an opportunity to share experiences, concerns, appreciations and questions, often related to one topic. Small groups are facilitated and participants share and respond to identified questions in structured format. Note takers record responses anonymously so that the information informs future planning and school improvement.
Please join us for a listening session on November 19th, as we work in partnership to create a safe and engaging school community for all Bronco families. An invitation and RSVP will be shared soon.
With care,
Michelle

Counselor Corner
Meet our Buckingham counselor Ms. Alaina
There is nothing like a counselor's love and care, and at Buckingham we have one of the BEST! Here is our wonderful, FULL TIME school counselor, Ms. Alaina. She works across our school in a variety of ways to support students, staff and families. We are lucky and grateful to call her our own!
What is MTSS?
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that helps schools and districts ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. MTSS is about the intentional actions our school teams take in order to ensure equitable outcomes for students. MTSS uses data-based problem solving and decision-making to identify and address student needs, and to provide differentiated instruction and support. School based teams consisting of classroom teachers, specialists, administration, and support staff meet in regular cycles to monitor student growth and collaborate to respond to the instructional (Academic and Culture and Climate) needs of our Broncos.
Dental Screenings November 6th & 7th
Your student will be bringing home a complementary toothbrush and travel toothpaste along with a consent form for families to fill out and return to Ms. Eva in the office. Each student who returns their form will receive a small gift and each class that has a 90% return rate will win a popcorn or Popsicle party.
Runnig club update
A BIG thank you to our parent volunteers who have made Bronco Run Club a successful start this Fall. Broncos run laps on Thursdays at lunch. Our students have ran a total of 212 miles. First grade has the most miles with third grade right behind them! Ms. Biederman’s Class has the most miles combined. A first grader in Biederman’s class is in the lead with 5.2 miles! Three third graders are all tied for second! A first and fourth grader are tied for third. We have collectively run past Portland as a school. Broncos are going to see if they can make it to Seattle before the snow falls! We only have a few run clubs left in 2024. Sign up to volunteer to support our runners in November. We will be back in the spring to increase miles and earn the VIP lunch & t-shirt prize. Bronco Strong!
Mountian View High School Homecoming
A note from Mountain View H.S.
Hello All,
Thank you for your support in our efforts to bring together 6 MV feeder schools for our homecoming halftime show. We had about 80 students total from Buckingham, Lava Ridge, Ponderosa, Ensworth, Pilot Butte and Sky View.
All the kids were so great, and full of excitement! It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
Looking forward to next year! Thanks again.
