Shining a Light on Excellence: A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Maintenance, Grounds, and Custodial Teams for Their Incredible Work!
As we kick off a brand-new school year, it's the perfect time to celebrate the incredible work accomplished over the summer by our Maintenance, Grounds, and Custodial Staff. The dedication and effort poured into preparing our schools have truly made a difference.
While the halls were quiet and classrooms empty, there was a lot happening behind the scenes. From meticulously maintaining the grounds to ensuring our buildings sparkle, every effort has reinvigorated our schools into welcoming and safe spaces for all. The freshly manicured lawns, polished floors, repaired facilities, and clean, organized spaces are shining examples of a commitment to our school community. These details set the stage for a positive learning environment and reflect an unwavering attention to excellence by our Maintenance, Grounds and Custodial staff.
Even during a season when many take breaks, their work continued to ensure our schools are ready to provide the best possible environment for our students to thrive. This dedication directly contributes to our collective success, and it's truly appreciated.
On behalf of the entire school community, a heartfelt thank you goes out to our Maintenance, Grounds, and Custodial Staff. Let's make this year the best one yet!
These photos represent some but not all of the incredible Custodial, Grounds, and Maintenance teams that work tirelessly behind the scenes.
SHS Welcome Back Assembly Shines with School Spirit, Performances, and a Big Shoutout for Respect!
The Scappoose High School (SHS) Welcome Back Assembly was packed with excitement and school spirit! Along with important back-to-school reminders, students were treated to incredible performances by the SHS Choir and Dance Team, and the SHS Cheer Team pumped up the crowd with popular Scappoose cheers in anticipation of Fall sports. A fun tug-of-war competition brought out the competitive spirit, while Leadership provided students with various ways for students to get involved at SHS.
A standout moment of the assembly was when SHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Dale French, gave a big shoutout to our students for their amazing behavior at this week’s volleyball game against St. Helens! Our students showed incredible respect by standing still and silent during the national anthem, (even when they were outside the gym)—such a proud moment that truly reflects the awesome culture we have here at SHS!

Important Driver/Walker/Biker Safety Reminder
As the school year begins, we must prioritize safety around our school grounds.
Drivers: Please exercise caution and be aware of the increased pedestrian and cyclist traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. Adhere to posted speed limits and remain vigilant for crossing guards and children crossing the streets. Your attentiveness can prevent accidents and ensure the safety of our students.
Walkers and Bike Riders: Please remain alert and follow all safety guidelines while traveling to and from school. Use crosswalks and obey traffic signals. If biking, wear a helmet and ensure your bike is equipped with lights for visibility.
Together, we can make sure that our children have a safe and positive experience as they travel to and from school. Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.

To streamline our social media communication and ensure that accurate information reaches our community, we are transitioning to an information only/no commenting approach for our social media posts. This change is designed to minimize negative or irrelevant comments and to encourage direct communication with our District Office or individual schools. By doing so, we aim to prevent the spread of misinformation and ensure that the community receives official responses through the appropriate channels. We believe this approach will enhance the clarity, positivity, and effectiveness of our communications. If you have any questions regarding information in our posts, please connect the relevant school or District office directly. You can still look forward to all of our usual content and information throughout the year.
