EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
For the first time ever, the recipient of our Educator of the Week award is a student. Congratulations to Ms. Isabela (Isa) Bohorquez, a senior Honors student at the MHS. In addition to a schedule filled with Honors & Advanced Placement (AP) classes, Isa also is enrolled in an Independent Study, where she serves as an aide for the English Learner (EL) students in Ms. O'Brien's Math Class.
Ms. O'Brien has seen the impact Isa has had on the students and was effusive in her praise: "I can not stress enough how incredible Isa is. Her main role is to help translate for the students and me. But she is so much more! Isa speaks 3 languages and can easily bounce between them. She stays after class to discuss how each day went. She gives useful and thoughtful insight on what the students were picking up and what they were not. She helps keep students on task and engaged with the material. She has helped to decrease the language barrier, making it easier for me to find out what the students know and helps them understand tough concepts. Isa is proactive and anticipates the needs of the students and the teachers in the room."
It is a pleasure to have students like Isa across the district. She is a tremendous student and cares greatly about her fellow students. We thank her for her efforts and congratulate her for being named our Educator of the Week!!
SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH UPDATE
Dear MPSD community:
I’m writing to update you on our Superintendent search process.
As you know from our previous updates, the School Committee has been presented with 3 finalists: Ms. Sarah Shannon, Dr. Patrick Sullivan, and Dr. David Thomson.
This past week, we have held site visits around all of our schools in Marshfield with the finalists. I want to thank everyone who took the time to come to the staff and community/parent forums we held, as well as all of the educators who brought us into their classrooms to demonstrate the exceptional teaching and learning taking place in Marshfield.
I wanted to let you know that we were contacted by Dr. Thomson, who has informed us that he has decided to drop out of the search process. He appreciated his time in Marshfield and was very impressed with the district, but has decided to pursue other opportunities.
This Saturday, December 16, we will hold a special School Committee meeting to interview our two remaining finalists individually. While the Open Meeting Law states that only School Committee members may ask questions, this meeting is open to the public to attend and listen. Interviews will take place on the 2nd floor of the Seth Ventress Building, 76 South River Street. The schedule is as follows:
Ms. Sarah Shannon: 9AM
Dr. Patrick Sullivan: 10:15AM
The meeting will also be broadcasted live on Marshfield Community Media’s Education Access station (Comcast channel 8, Verizon channel 33).
As a reminder, the new Superintendent will be appointed at our final special School Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 19.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sean Costello
Chair, Marshfield School Committee

MEF FALL GIVING CAMPAIGN
We Are Better Together. The Marshfield Education Foundation (MEF) supports the Marshfield Public School District by providing critical seed funding for grants submitted by teachers for innovative programs that motivate and excite their students and achieve excellence in teaching and learning. As we enter the season of giving, we hope you’ll consider supporting the Marshfield Education Foundation with a donation to our 4th Annual Fall Giving Campaign. Since 2010, the MEF has been able to fund over 200 grants reaching every school in the District. This would not be possible without generous donations from people like you, our community, and our local business sponsors. Through the support of the Marshfield community, we have been able to support many innovative and creative programs in coding and robotics, reading and literacy, performing and visual arts, virtual reality and CAD design, physical fitness, and outdoor classrooms. Your donation and support directly impacts the students and teachers of the Marshfield community. Together, we can raise the necessary funds to be able to continue to fulfill our mission of providing innovative and creative programs to the classrooms.
