Principal's Message

Sabre Families,


As predicted, February has flown by as we head into the final week of the month. We are anticipating the budget announcement and impact that it will have on education later this week. Also, Parent Council is on Monday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. At our last meeting in January, we had many parents in attendance and look forward to building on the momentum and increased parent engagement.


Another highlight of the week will be on Wednesday, February 26, people around the world will be participating in Pink Shirt Day. Each year, Elk Island Public Schools honors this day by encouraging staff and students to practice kindness and to stand up for what matters - that everyone has the right to come to school and be treated with dignity and respect. This Wednesday, here at SAL, we want to stand in solidarity with all our staff and with all our students in standing up for what matters.


As a reminder, the returning student registration process for all current Sal students who are returning in 2020-2021 goes until February 29, 2020. All current Sal families have received an email with the link to complete the Returning Student Registration Form available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Model UN

This past weekend 12 Sabres participated in the Model UN conference at the U of A along with 600 other high school students. They took part in multiple committees and discussed many global issues. Sal students won best paper for the Security Council as well as the team scavenger hunt! Well done Sabres!

Registration 2020-2021 Now Open

The Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) returning student registration process for 2020-2021 is now open! To register your child for the upcoming school year, simply complete the online Returning Student Registration Form by logging in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.


All returning EIPS students are required to complete the form by February 29, 2020.
