Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!
Positive Connections Matter
Hello, Families. I want to thank each of you who took the time to participate in a parent-teacher conference with us today. Although I realize that the scheduling and the rescheduling added chaos to your lives and the flexibility needed was more than we ever realized we'd be asking...you showed up. In our lives, I truly believe that we show our greatest moments of leadership and our strongest look as a role model by consistently showing up. We have to show up for ourselves, for each other, for the fun and for the hard conversations. We have to choose to show up with an open mind and a can do attitude. We show up ready to learn. Today I want to thank you for showing up for your child. Thank you for showing up to show your appreciation for the important work your child's teacher or team does on the daily. Thank you for making the connections needed to keep our learning community moving toward our best selves as an organization, as a neighborhood, as humans. Those who do not feel the connection of their family, friends or support group will seek connection in other places; through other means. Or worse, they never find it and are left to feel lost, with little or no regard for human life. I pray every single day for the opportunity to make at least one positive connection that matters for someone else's heart. I will show up every day I can to love hard on these young humans here at Belmont, to try to make those connections that burrow deep into their young hearts and stick with them until they're grown. I won't quit showing love, sharing love, and encouraging love because our children deserve that kind of space to grow. A child's world shouldn't have room for ugliness. But it's out there. We know that. So I'll keep loving harder and expecting better. I know I'm not alone in this quest. There are eighty other adults in this building with the same desire to love harder and be better for our students. There are nearly eight hundred parents on the same journey. Let's get there. We can. Thanks again for showing up to make a connection with us for your child. Positive connections matter.
