Fall is Here!
KES Parent-Teacher Conferences
On 10.24.24, we will be hosting our parent-teacher conferences. We look forward to this opportunity that allows parents to sit down with their child's teacher, highlight the things they are doing well, and identify areas for growth. In order to make the most of the minutes spent together, here are a few things to keep in mind:
-To sign up for a time slot, please follow the instructions that will be sent out via text in the coming weeks.
-We will be sending home some fall assessment the week of conferences. Please look through them before arriving, and identify any questions you might have beforehand.
Water Bottle Reminder
We love to see all of the water bottles that come in with our students so that they can stay hydrated. We would like to request that families send their students with bottle that have twist on caps as opposed to the push on ones. This prevents caps/lids from popping off when they are accidentally dropped.
New Student Perception Survey from Panorama
Recently, the Tuscola ISD has invested in a new survey program available to all districts in the county through a platform called Panorama. The ISD has curated a list of questions for students in grades 3-6 that we believe can help us gain data around students' perception of their own behavior, feelings in general, and support from others. If you would like to preview the student survey questions, please use the appropriate link and reach out to Mr. Campbell if you have any questions.
CARDS Update
It was a great first month for our new CARDS reward system! Students have been doing a wonderful job of following expectations around the building, and they have been earning lots of CARDS tickets for doing so. From those tickets, we have rewarded many winners with numerous weekly prizes. Some of those prizes have included trips to our new book vending machine and sitting at our VIP table during lunch. We look forward to all the great behavior we will get to reward KES students for this year!
Nurse's Corner
Cold and Flu season is right around the corner, and our Health Resource Advocate Mrs. Hayward has been hard at work teaching our KES students to prevent the spread of their germs. She has also prepared a list of reminders we can use to reduce the sharing of germs at KES. Please view the link to our Flu Season Reminders from Mrs. Hayward.
Morning Drop-Off Expectations
- If you pull up to the entrance and are the only vehicle on the curb, please pull 1-2 car-lengths past the entrance. This allows several more vehicles to pull up behind you and drop off their students at the same time as you to keep our drop-off line moving.
- If you pull up behind another vehicle, leave room for your vehicle to pull out of line before the vehicle in front of you moves. If your student gets out quickly, you will be able to exit the drop-off line as soon as it is safe to do so.
- We know that some students need a few extra moments to collect their things or get one more hug or word of encouragement before they are ready to exit the vehicle each morning. If you know your student needs these things, we ask that you park in our south lot and walk your student to the cafeteria entrance when they are ready.
- We also know that some families have younger children in the car that cannot be left unattended. Instead of parking, we ask these families simply pull all the way to the end of the sidewalk. Once there, you can exit your vehicle on the curb to assist your student with drop-off.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in making our morning drop-off as efficient and safe as possible for all our KES families!
