SLEDMERE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL
WEEK ENDING 15TH NOVEMBER 2019
'Learning and growing in the love of God.' (1 John 4:16)
SIAMS INSPECTION
We have just received confirmation that we continue to be a Good Church School, following the recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools or SIAMS.
The entire school family are delighted by the inspection which reflects accurately the fantastic school we have here. Mr Richardson would like to thank the the children, their parents/ carers, governors and church for their hard work in achieving this report.
‘Everyone embraces the fact that they are loved by God and belong to a school family which values them. Consequently, all members of the school flourish. Teachers collaborate to create a curriculum which is challenging and engaging so that pupils are eager to learn.’
‘High expectations are set in the context of a caring Christian environment in which everyone aspires and thrives.’
‘The school enjoys a strong relationship with the church.’
NEW CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
We are very pleased that Andrew McCormack has agreed to become our new Chair of Governors.
Andrew has been Vice Chair of Governors for the past three years and during that time has been part of the team supporting Anne through the appointment of Peter Richardson as Head and the successful inspection of Ofsted at Wetwang and Sledmere and the recent SIAM inspection at Sledmere.
He has a wide range of experience as a director of divisions of a major UK company for over twenty years and in the community as Chair of Wetwang Parish Council and Treasurer of St Nicholas Church.
The Federation has taken significant steps forward over recent years which was reflected in the inspection reports. Andrew and the governors are committed to building on the positive assessments to ensure that the children , staff, parents and carers continue to be part of a school which develops through our vision, aims and values.
LEARNING
Class 2 - have been creating some explosive volcano art work inspired by the artist Margaret Godfrey linked to their topic 'Tremors.' (See above and below.) As well as using their creative skills they have been learning about volcanoes and the structure of the Earth. Do you know the four layers? Click below if you are interested in learning more.
Class 3 - 'We have been learning about the human body and how our pulse can become faster when we do exercise. In English, we have been learning about the Shakespeare play, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' In Maths, we have been learning about mental calculations.' (By Albert Stokes)
