September Update
K-Beach Elementary School
A Message from Mrs. Van Slyke
K-Beach Elementary did not qualify as a Title I school for the 2024-2025 school year. Title I status is based on the percentage of students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.
Title I benefits all K-Beach students. In the past, these funds allowed us to add two teaching positions and one Title I tutor. We also received additional funding to support our School Development goals.
Unfortunately, we lost these supports this year due to not qualifying. To regain these resources, itβs important that all parents submit the Free and Reduced Lunch forms each school year.
Please complete the form here: https://www.schoolcafe.com/KENAIPENINSULABOROUGHSD.

PBIS Celebration!
Our students have been hard at work following school expectations and earning pom poms. We have filled our school pom pom jar in the office - this means it is time to celebrate all of our good choices! On September 20th, students participated in an extra recess. They got to play in all areas of the playground with friends from other classes. Keep up the great work!
Caribou Migration
Our Caribou Migration is scheduled for Monday, October 14th. Your child will participate during his or her scheduled specials time. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are interested in helping during this event. We love to have parents here to cheer on the students!
Please have your child wear school colors to school that day - red, white, or blue. Each student will be receiving a "race bib" to keep track of the number of times they run the track!
ALICE Drill
We will be conducting our ALICE Drill on Friday, October 4th. Teachers will review safety procedures with students, including the steps for safely evacuating the school. As part of the drill, we will evacuate to our designated emergency location. Local law enforcement will be on site to assist with the drill.
If you have any questions, please contact the office at 907-260-1300.
AK STAR Results
AK STAR assessment reports are now available for students who were in grades 3-9 last year. To view your child's assessment results, log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and click the "Test Scores" link.
Additional information about the AK STAR assessment can be found in the letter below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Van Slyke.
