Message from Dr. Troyer & Dr. Wilfong
Eclipse Day - 4.08.2024
The eclipse timeline runs from about 2:00 pm until about 4:00 pm with totality happening at about 3:00 pm. We firmly believe that being in school for this day is a priority, this will be the first day back from spring break and know that many of our students will have been out of the classroom for an entire week. As educators, we also see this as a fantastic learning opportunity.
Below is a summary of our plans. Each school building will be reaching out to you with more specific information on this day as we get closer.
All students will be given NASA approved solar eclipse glasses that day.
Our elementary schools (NWES, SES and MES) will dismiss all students at 3:20 pm.
Our middle school (WMS) will dismiss all students at 3:25 pm.
Our high school (WHS) buses will leave campus at 3:25 pm. Student Athletes, Student Drivers and Walkers will be dismissed at 3:05 pm.
Pool Update
On January 29th, Dr. Toyer, Mr. Doty, WHS Athletic Director and another representative met with concerned community members to discuss the pool's condition. Following this, an initial assessment was conducted on January 31st with Elevatus Architecture and a pool specialist. A more comprehensive evaluation involving experts in various fields took place on February 7th.
On March 8th, we received a detailed report with recommendations, which we are currently reviewing. We're dedicated to determining the most financially prudent and effective steps forward, with plans to share more information this spring. In the meantime, we're addressing immediate concerns like lane lines, starting blocks, and new diving boards to ensure our swimming athletes have the support they need.
