Events and Opportunities This Week
Convoy of Hope
We are hoping to spend the next few weeks showcasing how caring and thoughtful our Talley community is! Talley is joining forces with Convoy of Hope, a charity assisting families who lost their homes and personal belongings in the Los Angeles wildfires. Instead of simple monetary donations, Convoy of Hope helps create “kits” filled with necessities to help during this awful time.
Talley has elected to collect items for two specific convoy kits. We will be gathering items for their Family Hygiene Kits and Children’s Activity Kits. Each kit is very specific to the number and size of items, to capitalize on how quickly they can be distributed once put together.
Please visit this link to learn what items we are hoping to collect. Additionally, there is an amazon wish list available for anyone who would rather place an order versus sending items in with your student(s).
For anyone who prefers to make a monetary donation (towards items in the kits), Mr. Lawson has been encouraged 😉 to allow students to throw a plate of shaving cream at his face for a $1 a throw! The counselors will be collecting monetary donations during lunches, and there will be large bins in the main lobby ready for any donated items.
This initiative will run from Monday, January 27th until the beginning of March.
We already KNOW our Talley community has heart. Now, let’s SHOW it by creating these blessings and making a difference.
Talley Academics
Below: Discover the inspiring "Periodic Table of Black History," a unique display created by Ms. DelCampo to honor influential African Americans across diverse fields. This creative exhibit highlights the profound contributions of Black history to America, celebrating the achievements and legacy of remarkable individuals. We encourage all students to stop by the display to explore and reflect on the enduring impact of these trailblazers in shaping our nation!
Talley Academic Support
We are now proudly offering Talley Academic Support for core subjects after school. This opportunity is meant to provide time for students to make up missing assignments, re-take assignments (including tests, quizzes, etc.), and get extra practice/help as assigned by their teachers. Parents/guardians see below for how to register you child as well as what expectations we have during this time for those attending. Students do not need to attend each week but are encouraged to do so as needed. Students will be reminded via Schoology message each day if they were signed up for tutoring and where that will take place.

Talley Updates
General Reminders
1. Locks for Lockers [ & Coats!]
Students are to keep coats and jackets in their lockers during the day. No blankets should be brought into the building. They are to bring their own lock and get an assigned locker from their period 1 teacher. If they have gym this semester, we strongly suggest a lock for gym lockers as well.
2. Student Chromebooks
A gentle reminder to students that Chromebooks- are not be brought to and used during the lunch period in the cafeteria;
- are not to be carried around in a position to be viewed/accessed during hall changes;
- are to be kept safe in a backpack that is not thrown on the ground/tossed around.
Students are to report lost Chromebooks and/or Chromebook issues to Dr. Abernethy in 154 or Mrs. Selby in the library as soon as possible.
We are seeing an increased number of Chromebook breakages and issues due to issues above. Students will be charged for damaged Chromebooks, per the BSD Technology agreement.
From the Library
Happy Black History Month! First of all, a belated congrats to our MLK Day survey winner: Sophia H. There is a new survey available now on the library Schoology page, and Mrs. Selby will award PBIS points and draw a random winner for answering the following: Who is one of your favorite black authors? What book do you love by them, and why? Visit the Talley Tigers Library page on Schoology or fill out the form below to enter. Good luck! Also, students can visit the library during periods 1, 3, or 5 with a pass from their teacher to check out a fantastic book written by or about amazing African Americans. While they are there, they can also return their current library books- thanks! 🙂
