Talley Academics
Below: Talley Tigers Shine in Dignity Rights Workshop!
Last week, the Delaware Law Related Education Center (DELREC) brought an exciting opportunity to our AVID elective classes with their Dignity Rights Workshop. Students from grades 6-8 delved into the world of law by reading and analyzing a real European court case. Guided by practicing lawyers, they worked in small groups to craft compelling oral arguments, gaining firsthand experience in legal advocacy.
The workshop also included an engaging Q&A session, where students explored the journey to becoming a lawyer and discovered scholarship opportunities available in Delaware. Several Talley Tigers displayed remarkable potential—our future attorneys are already making their mark!
Below: Atoms are the basic building blocks of matter. The purpose of this activity was for 7th graders to learn how atoms bond together to form molecules and ionic compounds. In Ms. DelCampo's and Mrs. Rzucidlo's inclusion science class, students had an opportunity to create these 3D models using toothpicks and gum drops! To which we all are reminded- hands on learning is sweet!

Talley Updates
General Reminders
1. Locks for Lockers [ & Coats!]
Students are to keep coats and jackets in their lockers during the day. No blankets should be brought into the building. They are to bring their own lock and get an assigned locker from their period 1 teacher. If they have gym this semester, we strongly suggest a lock for gym lockers as well.
2. Student Chromebooks
A gentle reminder to students that Chromebooks- are not be brought to and used during the lunch period in the cafeteria;
- are not to be carried around in a position to be viewed/accessed during hall changes;
- are to be kept safe in a backpack that is not thrown on the ground/tossed around.
Students are to report lost Chromebooks and/or Chromebook issues to Dr. Abernethy in 154 or Mrs. Selby in the library as soon as possible.
We are seeing an increased number of Chromebook breakages and issues due to issues above. Students will be charged for damaged Chromebooks, per the BSD Technology agreement.
AVID
From the Library
The library celebrated National Rubber Ducky Day on 1/13 with hidden rubber ducks in the books for students to find. Congrats to the students who found a total of 7 hidden duckies out of 10. No one was able to find the tiny blue duck. Can you see it in the picture? Look carefully!
From the Nurse
The school nurse will be completing Postural Screenings over the next several months. The school nurse inspects the student’s spine as he or she stands and walks and then inspects the back/hips as student bends forward. Parents/guardians will be contacted if the student needs additional follow up.
