Superintendent's Corner (Parents/Guardians)
Volume 1, No. 5 November 22, 2024
Opening Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the holiday season, I want to take a moment to thank each of our—parents, community members, educators, and staff—for the work they do every day to support ALL students in the Coos Bay School District. Your partnership, commitment, and care make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and in our community.
This year, your dedication to bringing your student(s) to school has been especially impactful, and we are grateful to see improved attendance across the district. Every day matters, and your efforts to ensure your students are present and engaged are key to their success.
It has been a fantastic semester so far, and I am thankful and proud to serve as Superintendent of Coos Bay School District. Together, we’ve accomplished a lot—from working on the our literacy initiative, establishing behavior support systems, increasing access to advanced coursework, implementing a new math curriculum, and fostering a culture of daily reading, writing, and discussion (120 minutes daily). These efforts, combined with your partnership, are helping create a strong foundation for ALL students in the CBSD.
As we approach Thanksgiving, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on someone who has supported your child this year—whether it’s a teacher, support staff, coach, or community member. I invite you to reach out and share your gratitude. A small gesture of thanks can go a long way in lifting and inspiring others.
The holiday season can bring both joy and challenges. Please know that we are here to support you and your student, not just academically but also socially and emotionally. If your family or student needs additional support, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s school or the district office. We are here to help.
As we take a break for Thanksgiving, I hope you find time to enjoy family, friends, and loved ones. Celebrate your students for their hard work and progress, and let them know how proud you are of their efforts. When we return, we will continue this journey together, energized and ready for the next sprint of the school year.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback please feel free to give me a call (541) 267-3104. Again, thank you for your partnership, your commitment, and the trust you place in us to serve your student(s). Wishing you and your family a joyful, restful, and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
One Compass—One Goal—One Mission,
Dr. Ainsworth
