TLA e-bulletin
For all things Teaching, Learning and Assessment this Spring
Issue 16
Now, it would be easy to write off February and March as being amongst the least merry months of the teaching calendar, what with Christmas and half-term having come and gone, and the push up to Easter sometimes feeling like a marathon. Happily, as the evenings are getting lighter and spring is on its way, there are lots of good things happening at the College that you can get involved in, so read on to see if anything takes your fancy.
The next TeachMeet is on 23 March and we'd love to replicate the success of last summer's event, when we were bowled over by the lively atmosphere and high quality presentations from our contributors. If you think it's your time to shine, please sign up for a presenting slot - it can be a really rewarding experience both for you, and our TeachMeet attendees. Go on, don't be shy! You can present with a partner, too, if you like.
As ever, if there's something you'd like to share with us, we'd love to hear from you. Just drop us a line at tla@centralnottingham.ac.uk
This month's Central Bright Spot...
Significant progress was noted in learners who justified their answers or debated the answers of others. Not only were learners revising, they were very effectively developing their critical thinking skills and being stretched and challenged in other avenues including independent thought and ability to justify other answers as well as the given one. A very effective use of ILT.
Well done Matt!
Our new Collaborative Project
"Most great learning happens in groups. Collaboration is the stuff of growth" -Sir Ken Robinson
In response to a number of requests, the TLA team is pleased to announce a new ‘Collaborative Project’ to provide participants with the opportunity to access training, support and opportunities to develop their skills and share best practice across the college.
As part of the project we'll be running training this month (see right), so please come along with your collaborative skills at the ready!
We'd also like to provide staff with opportunities to engage in and contribute to cross-college learning walks, TLA Fayres, the TLA e-bulletin and the co-delivery of cross-college TLA Training.
If you'd like to get involved in this project, please register your interest with Claire Milligan: claire.milligan@centralnottingham.ac.uk
