TMS SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
September 5, 2024
A MESSAGE FROM MR. BOWEN
It is hard to believe we are already in September and the cool winds are bringing us into winter. IReady diagnostics were a big success. Thank you for helping your students get to school on time with a good breakfast and good sleep.
Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be completing the Measures of Academic Progress. MAP data gives us a good idea of how our students compare to students nationally and provides us with areas for student growth. Student schedules will look very similar to the two days we spent doing IReady diagnostics, with periods 1, 2, and 3 meeting on Tuesday after lunch and periods 5, 6, and 7 on Wednesday. Any student at school but not taking the MAP assessments will be in a study hall until lunch. We look forward to sharing with you the results of our various diagnostics and assessments as well as the instructional practices and materials we use based on that data. We want every student to experience a year or more worth of academic growth each school year and these are some of the tools we use to measure that.
On a side note, if you are looking for a flexible job working with kids, but you don't want to commit to a full time position, we are looking for substitute teachers. We would love to have adults from our community working with our students. See the Job Openings link below.
Lastly, please help your students form a habit of charging their Chromebooks and bringing their charging cords to and from school. We want them to be able to use them as tools for learning and it is hard to use when they have no power.
We love working with your students and look forward to the weeks ahead. Thanks for sharing your kids with us!
