First Day of School Wednesday, August 14th, 7:40 am-3:10 pm (doors open at 7:15 am)
The First Day of School is exciting for all of us! For families who would like to, we invite you to park in our parking lot and walk your Tiger to the front porch. Here, you can take pictures, give hugs, and cheer your child on as they head to class independently through our front doors.
The Pre-K and Kindergarten students will meet their teacher in the gym and be escorted to class. All other students will walk without their parents from the front doors to their classrooms. If your child is entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, or 1st grade, they should have received a sticker to wear on the first day with their name and teacher's name. Please place this on their shirt. If you have not received a sticker, we will have one available to give you on the front porch that day. We will have staff stationed throughout our hallways ready to guide or walk with any student who needs a helping hand. Don't worry, Mamas and Daddies-they can do it with our help!
Student safety is our greatest responsibility, and this is the safest way we can efficiently welcome all 600+ Tigers into our building for our first day of school. We know this will be a change for some of our families, and we thank you for being supportive as we work together to prioritize student safety and campus security.
Closed Campus Wednesday, August 16th- Friday, August 30th
In order for our students to become independent throughout their school day, BISD elementary schools will be closed to visitors until after Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming guests for lunch anytime after Labor Day.
Dismissal 3:10 pm
You received an orange dismissal card at Meet the Teacher. Please place this placard on your rearview mirror at parent pick-up. If you do not have the placard, we will ask for your driver's license. The arrival and dismissal map is attached below. We have two lanes of traffic, and the middle lane is for pedestrians. We do not allow parents to walk up at dismissal.
The dismissal process is slow during the first three days. Please be patient with us as we work to dismiss students. Remember, the first day of school is slow at every campus. If you pick up another child at the middle school, they will be running slow, too.
