WT Page Principal's Message
Dear Page Families,
Here is some important information that I would like to share with you this week.
1. Freed Photography: We are no longer using Lifetouch Photography company at Page. Freed Photography will be taking individual photos of all of the Page students on Tuesday, September 17th. Below is the staff picture taken by Freed Photography in August. (See staff picture and flyer below.)
2. Back to School Night (BTSN) and Resource Fair: This year Page ES will have a resource fair beginning at 6:00 PM. During the resource fair families can order dinner from the food truck, sample food from the Department of Food and Nutrition Services (DFNS), meet after school club sponsors, local community organizations, and more. BTSN will begin at 6:30 PM and there will be 3 sessions to meet with classroom teachers, learn about the new literacy curriculums (CKLA and Arriba), learn about compacted math (only on September 19th), and visit the resource fair. BTSN has been extended to 8:15 PM. We are looking forward to meeting and engaging with families. (See the flyer below)
3. DFNS Special Dietary Needs Form: Students that have special dietary needs due to severe food allergies or due to a specific disability can submit MCPS Form 240-23. The completed form must include a physician’s signature and will be passed along to the MCPS registered dietitians who then reach out to the parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding planning a menu for the student. After the registered dietitian and parent(s)/guardian(s) have agreed upon a menu plan, the plan is then sent to the school-based supervisor to begin training the staff and aiding in food ordering if necessary. The menu is posted in a secured location within the school cafeteria, where the cafeteria manager and staff can access it. Some students may require their meals to be compiled and set aside for them to ensure the prevention of cross-contamination. Please note: the Special Dietary Needs Form is to be utilized independently or in addition to a 504 plan. (General health concerns, such as a preference that a student eat a gluten-free diet because a parent believes it is better for the student, are not disabilities and do not require accommodation.)
4. Cell phone and Smart Watch permission slip - All students that wear a Smart Watch or will have a Cell Phone for use before or after school must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. (see more information below)
5. Back to School Night Welcome video will be sent out Monday for families to preview prior to BTSN. It will also be linked to the school website.
See you bright and early Monday Morning.
Ms. Brown
Principal
