⭐ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE ⭐
What a busy few week we've had at Winston Heights! Students and teachers have been working hard in the classroom and the smiles on students faces show the growth they've been achieving! Our beginner, concert and performance bands had an amazing time at band camp. Developing their skills not only with their music but also in friendship, confidence and resilience. The NSW Police Band visit on the 4 June showed students from Years 2-6 what fun playing in the band could be! Our Premiers Sporting Challenge and Wicked Wednesdays have showed students how much enjoyment can be had from physical activity! Our students continue to develop their skills with Motiv8 for the K-2 and 3-6 Athletics carnivals, coming up soon. It's been an action packed few weeks and it doesn't look like it's slowing down with the Synergy Dance Festival, debates, Maths Olympiad, Festival of Music and Parent Teacher interviews still to come!
Hudson heads to Sydney West Cross Country

🏈🏈 State of Origin Day🏈🏈
State of Origin Day was held on Wednesday 5 June to raise funds for playground equipment for students to use during recess and lunch. The School SRC designed, organised and ran the day with all students having a fantastic time!
On Wednesday, Winston Heights had State of Origin day. Students celebrated by wearing blue or red to represent the rugby league teams.
Some people wore the jerseys of other favourite sporting teams.
In my opinion, I thought it was a great day! Though we were quite disappointed the blues didn't win.
Anisha (SRC rep for 5B)
🔎💡💻Tech Club 2024 💻💡🔎
Each week, I am filled with pride to witness the incredible creativity of our students during the lunchtime Tech Club group. This year, we have been fortunate to borrow various robotics kits from the Education Department's STEMT4L project. The moment I bring out the very popular Dash and Indi robots, the room is filled with excitement as students eagerly embark on adventures with coding, problem-solving and creative exploration. Students have also been exploring the newly purchased LEGO BricQ Science kits to enhance their understanding of forces, motion and energy.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the Studio!

K-2 Stars Gardening Club
K-2 Stars Gardening Club
The K-2 Stars Gardening Club have had a fantastic time working with Mr Blackie to improve the gardens around our school. In week 5 they had an amazing time, finding and sorting worms in the soil. The worms were transferred into the vegetable patches used by the WHET club! Can't wait to see what messy fun we get into next week!
📚 K/1T - We love you, Magoo! 📚
Students in K/1T have been working hard on their writing skills in English! Over the last few weeks, students have been learning to use exclamation marks and question marks to create an inspired sentence about Magoo from the text We love you, Magoo! The result being a fun and light-hearted book detailing the adventures of Magoo’s mischievous visit to Winston Heights Public School. A few sneak peeks of Magoo’s cheeky adventure from Soren E, Harvey C and Isaiah L are below.

🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICES 🚨
We want to work with businesses within our school communities
Work is available maintaining our schools
School Infrastructure NSW manages a large maintenance program for more than 2,000 schools across all parts of NSW. To do this work, we are looking to engage local businesses, including Aboriginal owned businesses and people.
We want to go local
We are moving towards direct management of facilities maintenance, bringing in new facilities maintenance contractors and tradespeople to work directly under contract with us.
Why go local? We want to:
- be more responsive to maintenance issues reported by schools.
- ensure we are working with local trades and spending our money in our local communities.
- provide better working conditions for local tradespeople, including faster payment terms.
Opportunities for Aboriginal businesses
In addition to increasing our engagement of local contractors, we are also seeking to grow the number of local Aboriginal businesses we work with and increase employment opportunities for Aboriginal employees, apprentices and trainees.
We have Aboriginal Senior Program Officers who are able to help Aboriginal businesses, and local contractors who already employ or are looking to employ Aboriginal employees, apprentices, and trainees.

- Multi Tradespeople
