The Riverwalk Roar: February, 23th 2025
A Note from Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride!
I hope everyone is doing well and feeling excited for the week ahead. Many of our staff and students, including myself, are eager to see what this week will bring.
Maria Shriver once said:
"Embrace the gift of a new week! Forget the scaries and unwrap what's in front of you. Think about what you get to do this week. Think about the energy you get to bring to the week, to everyone you encounter. That's incredible power, so use it wisely. Enjoy what you've been given!"
This quote really resonates with me. In the past, Sundays often brought a growing sense of stress as I started thinking about the week ahead. That feeling sometimes led to sleepless nights, making Mondays even more challenging.
A few months ago, I decided to shift my mindset about Sundays and the week ahead. Instead of focusing on the uncertainty of Monday, I started viewing it as a gift. After all, the new week will come whether I worry about it or not—so why waste energy on something out of my control? Instead, I choose to focus on the bright spots. I look at the week ahead and think about everything I get to do, rather than what I have to do.
That’s an exciting thought… Five new days ahead to do what I love instead of what I must.
Lions, let’s make it an incredible week!
