Principal's Message
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Our cell phone policy is off to a strong start. Students who have a waiver on file indicating they do not have a phone will be receiving a card to show at the gate each morning. If your child does bring a phone to school, please remind them that it must remain in their locked pouch throughout the school day. As we fine-tune our process, we are also identifying and addressing any loopholes students may try to find. Your support in reinforcing these expectations at home is greatly appreciated!
Looking ahead, parent conferences will take place on March 27th and 28th. To make the most of these meetings, students should have work prepared in their digital portfolios to share with you. If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to reach out. We will share more information on parent conferences in the near future.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a great week!
Cell Phone Policy
Our new cell phone policy has been in effect for a week now, and it's going really well! Students are becoming more engaged with their friends during lunch and breaks and are getting out of the habit of constantly checking their phones. While some students have tried different ways to get around the system, we simply adjust as needed to keep things running smoothly.
To ensure a structured entrance in the mornings:
β
Students with phones in pouches will enter through the main gate and show their locked pouch.
β
Students who donβt bring a phone and have turned in a waiver will receive an ID card to show at the main gate.
β
Students with no pouch, no phone, and no waiver will enter through the main hallway.
Thank you for your continued support in making this transition successful. Your efforts are helping create a more focused and connected learning environment. Let us know if you have any questions!
This Week's Advisory Lessons
At SFiAM, we are committed to fostering a supportive learning environment that prioritizes both academic success and social-emotional growth. One way we do this is through Math Monday activities and weekly Rethink Ed lessons in advisory. These lessons cover essential topics such as conflict resolution, empathy, and cultural understanding to help students develop critical life skills.
This week's lesson topics include:
β Resolving Conflicts
β Listening with Empathy
β Understanding Culture
We encourage you to check in with your child about what they are learning in advisory. Engaging in conversations at home about these topics can reinforce the important discussions happening in the classroom.
Thank you for your continued support in creating a meaningful and enriching experience for our students. Please reach out if you have any questions!
