11:00am – 12:30pm: Hack the Classroom

edCamp
Saturday, October 27th
We have our first EdCamp scheduled and ready to go! It will be Saturday, October 27th from 9am – 12pm at Hapeville Elementary School in the CLC.
If you’re not familiar with the EdCamp model, here are some things you should know.
- Free and open to all. Invite anyone from your Vanchise and school that might be interested!
- Participant-driven. Sessions are determined by the participants before and at the event; there are no presentations or keynotes. The goal is to keep sessions spontaneous, interactive and responsive to everyone’s needs.
- Experience, not Experts. The educators in the room are professionals worthy of sharing their expertise in a collaborative setting.
- Reliant on the Rule of Two Feet. Participants are encouraged to actively self-select the best content and sessions. If the session you’re in isn’t for you, or isn’t meeting your needs, go find one that is!
In an upcoming VanWeekly, we will ask for your session ideas so we can begin to plan for the event.
_____________
Hack the Classroom
Microsoft's next Hack the Classroom event is devoted to the changemakers in education and the passionate innovators in student-centered learning. Learn from the educators who help students build future-ready skills and who ignite their interest in STEM learning. These passionate educators will generously share their techniques and philosophies for creating better student outcomes during the event. By joining Hack the Classroom, you will learn tips and tricks and hear inspiring stories from educators across the globe.
Hack the Classroom will be streamed live on Facebook, connecting thousands of teachers from all over and demonstrating how anyone can feel empowered to take risks and support a new generation of students, looking for tomorrow’s most necessary skills. It all starts on October 27th at 8:00 a.m. PDT.
Make sure you are getting Vanguard emails
In order to ensure you are getting emails that are sent to fcsvanguard@fultonschools.org, please follow these steps in Outlook.
Are You Presenting at GaETC?
GaETC is coming up quickly in just 21 days, and we want to know if you were selected to present a session. If you are presenting, please respond to this brief survey.
We will be packaging this information together and sharing it out to the whole team so we can support you at the conference. It’s also critical for us to ensure that you are registered properly, so please respond as soon as you are able. Thank you!
GaETC Registration Now Open for New Members!
New members have until October 26th to register, but we will be opening registration up to Vanchise members on October 22nd on a first come first serve basis. We encourage new members to register before Monday so that we have as accurate a count as possible to know how many spots are available to Vanchise members.
Please note, the Instructional Technology department will pay for subs for all Vanguard members, but the school will need to pay for subs for Vanchise members. Remember, all Vanguard and Vanchise members who wish to attend the conference will need to obtain permission from their principal.
