Teacher of the Year Nominations
The Oakland County Teacher and Support Staff Member of the Year program is back for the 2024-25 school year. There is no more important time, than now, to recognize and celebrate the efforts of those who have chosen and continue to serve in this all-important profession.
Here at Scripps, we are very proud of the many dedicated and outstanding teachers and staff that work very hard for the success of our students. We would love to have input from you, as a parent of a Scripps child.
If you believe a Scripps teacher or support staff member has gone above and beyond, has demonstrated excellence, and is deserving of this award, we ask that you please complete the questions on the link below to nominate that staff member by Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Teacher and Support Staff Member Nomination
Thank you for your assistance in helping us to recognize our outstanding staff members for the great work they do.
Sincerely,
The Scripps Leadership Team
Cell Phone Usage & Policy
We are often asked how you, as parents/guardians, can support us here at school, which we greatly appreciate. One area we are asking for your unwavering support is with student cell phone/electronic device usage. Please know it is never our intent to take a personal device away from a student. We understand the important role it plays in communicating with your student and how helpful of a tool it can be within each family. However, the SMS staff has the administration’s full support in holding students accountable regarding appropriate personal technology usage. This includes not having their devices out in class unless otherwise instructed.
Please note, should a student’s device be taken for inappropriate use, you may be contacted to come to school to collect the device. Should you need to contact your student, we politely ask that you call the main office, and we will be sure to communicate the message as quickly as possible.
In the classroom, we are asking all students to please place their cellphones in the teacher provided caddies and/or be left in their locker. During hall passing and lunch, cell phones should be on silent mode and out of sight.
Powerschool Parent and Student Access
There are two ways to access powerschool to check grades, locker information, attendance, grade history and missing assignments.
Student Access:
https://lakeorion.powerschool.com/public/home.html
Username & Password are the same students use to login to their school issued laptop.
Parent Access:
https://lakeorion.powerschool.com/public/home.html
Each parent can set up an individual username and password to check grades, attendance, missing assignments and to schedule conferences. Parents can also link multiple students to their account. Returning 7th & 8th grade parents should already have an account setup. 6th grade families and new students to Scripps should have received an email with directions.

Distinguished Dragon Staff Recognition
Lake Orion Community Schools is launching a program in 2023-24 to recognize LOCS staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at Distinguished Dragon Submission
We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
