FunDay is our yearly carnival style fundraiser. This year, FunDay is taking place on Saturday, April 12 from 10 to 2. There will be a lot of information about FunDay coming out over the next few weeks. Please take a few moments to view our FunDay promo video created after last year’s event! As information comes home, please reach out to the office if you have questions - we are happy to help!
Thank you to our families who attended Reading Under the Stars on Thursday evening! It was such a fun way to celebrate community and literacy. We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Basketball News
Our Ridgeway basketball season is kicking off! Games begin in April and will take place each Saturday. Times and location are TBD, but we wanted to get dates to everyone so you can mark your calendars! There is also information below about season passes and ticket purchases.
Unit Notes
Unit A
A big thank you to all the parents for providing delicious snacks and for joining us for munch n' read! Our next Munch-n-Read event will be on April 4. We hope to see you there!
Reading/Writing:
We have been focusing on the elements of fictional stories, particularly character traits. We are becoming authors, writing fictional adventures using the story elements we have been learning about throughout the year.
Phonics:
**Mincke/Triplett:** We have been practicing reading and writing words with digraphs. Additionally, we are learning when to use 'C' or 'K' at the beginning of words. Our high-frequency word for this week is "you."
**Blades/Horn:** We are focusing on long vowel spelling patterns. Our high-frequency words this week are: find, how, over, under, try, far, give, and too.
Math:
**Mincke/Triplett:** We are still working on addition and subtraction problem-solving strategies.
**Blades/Horn:** We are continuing to develop our addition and subtraction strategies, as well as our understanding of geometry and telling time.
Unit B
Unit C
- 4th grade math students finished Unit 5 this week. We will begin Unit 6 next week, focusing on division and angles.
- In Social Studies, we have wrapped up the Building of America unit.
- Ridgeway is participating in the Geography Bee this year. Each Unit C class held a Class Bee this week. The winner(s) from each class will participate in the school-wide bee. Students who did not win their class, but correctly answered 3 out of 4 questions in the Classroom Bee, and who would like to participate will be given the opportunity to take a written test on Monday. The top 10 students from the Classroom Bee and Written tests will participate in the school bee. Please reach out to your student’s homeroom teacher with any questions!
