DPI Releases District and State Accountability Report Cards
On Tuesday, November 14, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released the 2022-23 district and school accountability report cards. The Mukwonago Area School District received a rating of Exceeds Expectations. Five MASD schools (Clarendon Avenue Elementary, Eagleville Elementary Charter, Prairie View Elementary, Rolling Hills Elementary, and Section Elementary) received ratings of Significantly Exceeds Expectations, while Big Bend Elementary and Park View Middle School were rated Exceeds Expectations, and Mukwonago High School was rated Meets Expectations.
DPI produces report cards for every school in Wisconsin which receives public funding. The report cards provide data on multiple indicators in four priority areas including student achievement, student growth, target area groups, and on-track and postsecondary readiness.
Visit the MASD School Performance webpage for more information, including to view this year's district and school report cards.
District Artificial Intelligence Policies
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has been in the news in recent months. While it holds incredible power, like any technology tool its misuse in student learning can have significant negative impacts.
Last month, the MASD school board passed a new policy, Policy 7540.08 - Artificial Intelligence (AI), to establish the appropriate and inappropriate use of AI in district schools along with potential disciplinary consequences for students violating the policy. In addition, Policy 5505 - Academic Honesty, was updated to include the use of artificial intelligence platforms in place of one's own work as a prohibited student behavior.
Families should review these policies and, as appropriate, have conversations with their children about AI. Families or students with further questions should contact their school or their child's teacher.
