5 Preventative Measures to Keep Your Family Healthy During the Holiday Season
Practice Good Hygiene Habits
- Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before meals and after being in public places.
- Teach children to avoid touching their faces, especially their eyes, nose, and mouth, to reduce the spread of germs.
Maintain a Healthy Diet and Stay Hydrated
- Prioritize balanced meals with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to support a strong immune system.
- Ensure everyone drinks plenty of water, as hydration is key to staying healthy during winter months.
Get Plenty of Rest and Manage Stress
- Make sleep a priority by setting consistent bedtimes for children and adults.
- Take breaks and engage in relaxing activities to keep holiday stress levels low, which can help maintain overall health.
Stay Active and Get Fresh Air
- Incorporate daily physical activity, even if it’s just a walk outside, to boost mood and immune health.
- Dress warmly and encourage outdoor play to reduce time spent in crowded indoor spaces.
Stay Up-to-Date on Vaccines and Keep Sick Family Members Home
- Schedule flu shots and other recommended vaccinations for all family members.
- Keep children home from school or activities if they show signs of illness, and avoid visiting others when sick to prevent spreading germs.
By following these simple steps, families can enjoy a healthier and happier holiday season together!
