Manitou Springs High School
Mustang News - September 27 , 2024
From The Principal
Our students and staff have truly captured school spirit at its best: from the high-energy pep assembly to the fun dress-up days and all the exciting events in between. We just wrapped up an exhilarating parade through downtown Manitou, and the excitement is only growing for tonight’s football game and tomorrow’s dance. We also focused on deep learning across our classrooms such as World History students designing civilizations that would thrive in the ancient Mesopotamia region to AP Stats students extrapolating data through experiments. Next week, we are looking forward to our College Fair with over 40 schools represented!
A huge thank you to the staff and students who devoted their time and energy to make this week such a success. Special recognition goes to our Athletics and Activities staff: Cameron Jones, Georgianna Derziotis, Liz Tindall, Ingrid Perez, and our dedicated fall coaches/sponsors. Your hard work is deeply appreciated.
I’m both humbled and thrilled to be part of this amazing community. Go Mustangs! Have a great Homecoming weekend!

Manitou Springs High School
Principal
Homecoming spirit week kicked off with a burst of energy, as students embraced themed dress up days such as jersey day, twin day and PJ day. The school filled with color and pride for class color day and green and gold day. This week long celebration has become a cherished tradition that brings the student body together and displays Mustang pride!

A Word From The Councelors
MSHS high school counselors Mr. Lewis (last names A-K) and Mrs. Strupp (last names L-Z) presented to all senior advisories last week information about the College Application Process & Post- Secondary Options. Please ask your student about this presentation! Counselors also emailed a copy of the presentation to all senior students so they can reference it back to it as it has MANY helpful links and videos! We spoke about the upcoming October Colorado Free Application Day$ , Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Common app vs Direct to institution applications, how to request a letter of recommendation, important deadlines, upcoming college fair opportunities and much more!!
A reminder to all students and families Naviance is not how students apply to college but it is important that all students keep their college list updated in Naviance as it is the ONLY way that MSHS sends transcripts and letters of recommendation so students can finalize their applications. Students need to apply to their schools either 1) via Common App (https://www.commonapp.org/) or 2) directly to the university/college via their individual websites. A reminder that students simply need to request an appointment with their counselor if they have any questions. We are here to help!
Mustang Pride
Teachers and staff came out in full support of the boy's soccer team, and their encouragement helped lead the team to a well-deserved victory!
