Middle School Update

Bantam Basketball tryouts - October 27: All Grade 7&8 players who are interested in playing basketball will participate in the tryouts. The tryout date is Sunday October 27 from 8:30-11:30 am in the Speirs gym. The gym will be open at 8:15. Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack. If needed, a second tryout date will be announced after the first one is complete. We encourage everyone who has an interest to participate! There are multiple team options and having everyone try out together will give coaches a better idea of how to accommodate as many players as possible on the available teams.

Re-enrolment Reminder: Secure your son's enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year! Please sign (electronically) and submit the online re-enrollment form by Friday, November 1. You can find the form in mySelwyn by clicking on the "Form to Review" notice at the top of the page. Please note that only one parent is required to digitally sign the form. Last chance to register for 24 Hours for the Unhoused! From November 12 to November 13, students will participate in workshops by Resilience MTL, Bread and Beyond, and Dans la Rue, and spend the night at Selwyn House in the West Yard (supervised). Participants will reflect on their experiences and discuss insights about houselessness. We're collecting new socks and canned soup for Dans la Rue and Stepping Up—bins will be located outside each school assistant's office. We encourage the Selwyn House community to contribute! • Door decorating contest - Judging will take place on October 31 and prizes will be awarded! Students are encouraged to bring in decorations to contribute to their classes’ success!

• Guess the candy in the jar - students can pay $1 or redeem a Veritas point to make a guess. The winner will take home the jar of candy on Oct 30.

• On Tuesday, October 31, students are encouraged to wear costumes to school in place of the school uniform. Activities and costume contest will take place at lunch hour. The school theme this year is Star Wars, and students are invited to join that theme or dress in any costume of their choice. Props and weapons are NOT permitted (light sabers are an exception) and Halloween masks may only be worn during the costume competition. If students are not in costume, they are expected to wear their regular school uniform.

• Join the Star Wars Halloween Pumpkin Carving Activity! Students can earn points for their house by contributing a carved pumpkin on Oct. 30 for the Halloween display in Coristine Hall. Think about your ideas and sign up to participate via this Google Form.
