2024-2025 The Year of Hope
September Update
Dear Aura Caregivers,
It has been a great start to the 24-25 school year at Aura. Our students were smiling from ear to ear on their first day. They brought positive energy and excitement to our building that could not be measured. After getting to know our students in the first few days of school, our teachers have dove right into their curricula, and our students have been hard at work. Our hallways and classrooms are now buzzing with activity. We are back!
Thank you to all of the parents/guardians who came out for Back to School Night. It was wonderful to meet with you, and I appreciate our partnership in your child's education. I am certain you have heard from your child that I have been out and about at recess. We have been working hard to establish recess procedures so that everyone can have a safe and fun experience during their playtime. This Friday, I will be meeting with all of the grade levels to establish our school wide Constitution which will list our Squire Values and expectations for the year. I look forward to ratifying our school rules together with K-3 and Grades 4-6 students. In addition to ratifying our school rules, I will be meeting individually with each class to read a book centered around our theme: The Year of Hope. I am excited to speak to each class about how they can harness hope for this coming year!
This year offers so many opportunities for our students to achieve endless possibilities. I appreciate you entrusting us with your children. Our staff looks forward to empowering our students and providing them with a stellar Aura experience.
Yours in hope,
Dr. Madden
Hispanic Heritage Month
The Aura School community will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th - October 15th. School wide we will be hearing about the contributions of famous Hispanic figures during morning announcements and in the classrooms students will be learning about famous Hispanic figures and exploring Hispanic culture and traditions. We look forward to sharing our celebrations with you via social media.
Wear Blue on Monday, September 23rd in Support of Shine Your Light on Sign Language
Monday, September 23, 2024 is International Day of Sign Languages.
This day is a special chance to support and celebrate the language and culture of Deaf people and those who use sign language.
The color blue is deeply connected to the deaf community. The Deaf flag has 3 colors: turquoise blue, yellow, and dark blue. Turquoise blue represents the Deaf community and sign language, pride, and unity. Yellow represents light, an enlightened spirit, life, and "thriving in unison". Dark blue represents the earth, humanity, and living in accordance with the planet.
On Monday, September 23, 2024 we would like to show our support and shine a blue light on sign languages. Please have your student get involved and wear blue.

School Bus Safety
We are in need of your help reminding your child(ren) to wear their seat belts, stay seated on the bus, and to keep the noise level down. Currently, I am working with each bus to review these rules alongside the driver. Thank you for helping to support your child in having a safe ride to and from school.
Calling All 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Students!
Nurse's Nook
Parents/Guardians please continue to update the nurse with allergies, send in 24-25' action plans if necessary and bring in medication (epi-pens and inhalers) if needed. Also note, the beginning of the school year is a shock to everyone's immune system and germs are spreading quickly. Please be sure your child is 24 hours fever free/free of stomach bug before returning to school. Thank you!!!!
What is a Hopeful Heart?
As part of our Squire Values, we will be honoring students who are being upstanding Aura citizens. There are various ways they can earn a Hopeful Heart. Some examples include: helping a friend up who fell, checking on a classmate who may be upset, helping out around the school, performing random acts of kindness, and much more! Our staff and students can honor each other for going above and beyond to make Aura School a special place to learn. Hopeful hearts will be on display in the foyer of the school. Can't wait to cover our walls with good deeds.
THANK YOU HSA!
HSA has provided each of the Aura students and staff with a special Aura shirt. They were sent home on Friday. We hope that everyone enjoys sporting their new Aura attire! We have the best HSA!
