Sultan Middle School Families,
Our theme this year is Stronger Together, Building Our Future! One of our goals for the year is to improve communication between school and home. To meet our goal, we need your help.
• If you did not attend the open house, a printed copy, of the information we have in PowerSchool, has been mailed to you. Please check the information, cross off any incorrect information, and make needed correction, then send the form back with your student to the office.
• If you are having trouble accessing either PowerSchool or Canvas, please call the office. We can send you an email to reset your password in PowerSchool and the Pairing Code for getting you connected to your student’s canvas account as an observer.
We have two ways to help students who are struggling academically: Homework Club and Friday School:
Tues/ Thurs Homework Club (2:40 – 4:50)* is an optional opportunity for students who need extra support or time to either stay caught up on classwork/ homework or who need to catch up after being gone. These are students who want to work and are motivated to improve their grades for either sports or other reasons. Homework Club is encouraged, but is a choice, not a requirement. If a student doesn't complete work at Homework Club they can be asked not to return, as it is only for students who will use it appropriately.
Friday School: Starts 10/4/24
Friday School (ERF Fridays 1:10 -3:30)* will be a required opportunity for students who are failing classes due to not meeting classroom expectations. Part of building relationships means caring about our students enough to hold them accountable for their choices and providing consequences when they are not meeting expectations. Friday School will be a required opportunity for students who are not meeting those expectations by: not utilizing classroom time, being disruptive during class, and choosing not to complete work in defiance.
Our Mission Statement: Sultan Middle School exists to empower all students to achieve at high levels, to become community leaders and global citizens.

Let's Get to Know Julie Van Leemput, Science Teacher
Hi! My name is Julie and I teach 6th grade science. Prior to teaching I was a licensed veterinary technician working with small animals and some exotics. I’ve lived in Washington most of my life (moved here when I was 4) with Arlington being my most recent place to call home. I have a cat, Zoey who will growl when the doorbell rings and hides when I get the vacuum cleaner out. In my free time I like to paint or you can find me at the bowling alley trying to not get a gutter ball. Halloween is my favorite holiday and my house is decorated all year long for it 😊
